I was right there with you. I felt betrayed and was furious about it. But I wonder now, would our collective response have been different if Legion had not been announced at FF2014 and was instead announced today? With all the "port naow, port anywhere" demands, I can't help but wonder. Food for thought :-) I would probably still be pissed for exactly the same reasons as FanFest 2014's hatred.
I have a 2 weeks old 1500 dollar PC. I'm not worried about myself, I'm worried about CCP ditching this fanatically dedicated fanbase which they should be glad they managed to sustain despite DUST's troubled history.

Starlight Burner wrote:Mobius Wyvern wrote:There's no such thing as "not being a console game". The whole reason they made Dust 514 in the first place was to give console gamers an experience that the current console developers hadn't given them before. Disagree. There are some games that are not designed or destined to be on a console. I strongly believe, DUST514, at it's current release time, was not destined to be a console game. Seeing the PS4 specs, the PS4 could do it; however, we run into the same problem, having to update the game to x console specifications every generation. Agree to disagree but I disagree with your statement. The problem we ran into with DUST is that CCP's vision could absolutely not be realized on the PS3.
With the PS4 that isn't the case, their vision is within reach. Yeah we might not have the best graphics, but considering Planetside 2, I'm sure that the PS4 is capable of CCP's vision.

Aeon Amadi wrote:Vicious Minotaur wrote:Aeon Amadi wrote:... The hatred toward CCP Rouge was ill-placed and knee-jerky. Players couldn't - and still can't, apparently - understand the orchestra that is behind the scenes and will fault developers they know and see for the actions of the ones they don't.
Learn from that experience. Just gunna say that it is hard to understand the so-called "orchestra" when the conductors leave their audience in the dark and the musicians don't play their instruments, even though the audience bought tickets to their concert. CCP coulda learned from that, but... well... it is kinda dim in here, and the crickets... Well, they are chirping. Personally, I'd like the orchestra to begin to warm up and tune their instruments, if not begin to play some Tchaikovsky. And one wonders why Well, when they last played, they basically said they're going to take their instruments and play to a completely different crowd as well as take your money and leave.
Soooo.... There are reasons.

el OPERATOR wrote:The lack of accurate recall in here is crazy. The FF2014 announcement was a riot because in the preceeding months DUST had been due multiple fixes for various game elements and mechanics that didn't happen. Instead it was months of total silence from the dev team, then, during what was supposed to be an expose of DUST's year(s) to come was an announcement that CCP had effectively quit doing anything support-wise for DUST so as to create a demo for Legion. And don't forget in those weeks prior there was the escalation of monetization elements (100% boosters, anyone?). THAT's the environment that announcement was made in. Would people react the same to the same announcement now? Who knows. Could CCPs dev group at the time handled the problems that existed then, as Rattati has since? Who knows.
The latter question tho is the real kicker. At the end of the day it comes down to the old adage, "Where there's a will, there's a way." If CCP want to grow the relationship they've fostered with the console gaming community, then they will. If they want to diversify their clientele base by branching (farther?) into mobile, then they will. If they want to solely want to rely on the support of the "PCMasterRace" then they'll do that. IMHO, if they felt last of those was a worthwhile goal then they never would've grown into the console market in the first place. This guy speaks trufacts.

I believe what Aeon is saying is that Rouge wasn't the one who made that decision. He was CCP Shanghai's public face, but there was a net of strings behind the scene that made various decisions, decisions that Rouge didn't approve of and yet had to speak for.
CCP Shanghai had some staff pruning post FanFest 2014, particularly in the PR and marketing department.

This place is full of trolls. CCP Rattati is a troll.
Hence he not only survives here, he thrives.

I'm guessing he felt like he trolled too hard considering this is a touchy issue and tried to erase it from existence.

I don't expect you to like me, i just expect you to accept that consoles aren't where this game should be. No, your not a troll, a troll provides intelligent remarks but at the same time makes people laugh a little, you are doing neither I'm afraid you overestimate the intelligence and sense of humour of most trolls. At least dust 514 trolls. On other games the average troll IQ is at least 80, here its at best 50 Hey! I'm at least a 69 thank you very much!
