More content. Sexier graphics. Better framework. Fewer middlemen. Presumably less lag. Larger potential playerbase. Etc ...
... and we freakin' crucified the dude.
If Rouge waltzed in today and announced the very same thing he announced in 2014, we'd hail him as hero and savior.
Amiright? No, the reason we "freakin' crucified the dude" was because he announced that they were basically ditching not only our community but all of our progress in Dust and moving to PC. None of the Round Tables where they confirmed that our progress would be kept and that this was actually aimed at the current playerbase were streamed on Twitch. Therefore the only thing seen by all of us watching the stream and not in attendance in Iceland was that we were all being ditched in exchange for the PC crowd while the Twitch chat was spammed with "PC MASTER RACE" and how all of us who currently play the game never deserved it in the first place. THAT is why we all got pissed.
CCP Rouge being the director of Eve TV and proprietor of the streaming service itself is clearly a justifiable reason why the man is at fault.
/sarcasm
You got pissed at the one guy who dared show his face despite the poor planning on behalf of people that are not him. The one guy who had the balls to actually go up at the beginning of the Eve Keynote to play damage control the next day. S'okay, though, because I did too later on. Got banned for it, even.
The hatred toward CCP Rouge was ill-placed and knee-jerky. Players couldn't - and still can't, apparently - understand the orchestra that is behind the scenes and will fault developers they know and see for the actions of the ones they don't.
Learn from that experience.

Learn from that experience. Just gunna say that it is hard to understand the so-called "orchestra" when the conductors leave their audience in the dark and the musicians don't play their instruments, even though the audience bought tickets to their concert. CCP coulda learned from that, but... well... it is kinda dim in here, and the crickets... Well, they are chirping. Personally, I'd like the orchestra to begin to warm up and tune their instruments, if not begin to play some Tchaikovsky.
And one wonders why

There are reasons.

Rouge hate was misdirected, but I would say CCP Shanghai hate was justified. Quite. Also, it ever occur to any of you people posting with superior attitudes about PCs that you're a major reason why many of the current community wouldn't follow the game to PC? The honest fact is that your attitude is so repugnant that many people play console games to avoid it. A gaming PC costs more than a console, and PC games usually involve the use of 3rd party software like VoIP that some people don't want to deal with. Let's also keep in mind that some people have families and a console is more accessible to both the parent and the kids. These people are NOT inferior.
In their defense, the 3rd party VOIPs would probably be a lot more reliable.

CCP Shanghai had some staff pruning post FanFest 2014, particularly in the PR and marketing department. Thanks Cat for making that point. And IF that is what Aeon and Darth are trying to say then they should say THAT. And more. In clear and simple language without cryptic scoldings towards us. Because I have never heard Rouge say anything like that. I have never heard anything from Rouge ( who supposedly is in charge of Dust). Again, want me and others to change our opinion about what happened, why and his role then and since? Wait, for it..... Communication
I'm aware. The CPM is aware. CCP is aware. There is a strong desire for communication and we are doing everything we can to accomodate you (see Council's Chambers sub-forum and my blog).
Please have patience and try to consider the different perspectives.

I couldn't have been one of the ones using the Rouge Wedding hasher! I didn't understand the context because I didn't (and still don't) watch Game of Thrones
But yes, everything that Kevall is saying here besides that obvious ****-up of my involvement with #rougewedding (which I'll make him pay for later) is fairly accurate. I remember all of us sort of mulling over the situation, Hans and I especially, whenever we were in the lobby at the HARPA center (it is a lot smaller than it looks, surprisingly).
I made a thread about it while I was waiting for my flight in Washington that you can do some compare/contrast of views and mentalities then and now.
But when you get right down to it.... apart from the delivery and the platform debate, Legion (at the time) really was exactly what everyone was asking for. Rouge looked at the situation and acknowledged that it was never going to happen on the PS3, acknowledged that all of the problems that had occurred up until that point were over-hyped, over-promised, and impossible to deliver on... So he made the necessary changes to try and make that vision a reality.
And in return he got crucified on the forums and branded the reason for it all going south.
Put yourself in the guy's shoes. You're hired on to make this all work, you make those changes, you announce them in quite honestly one of the biggest game marketing backstabbings in history, and then the community with which you made those changes for blames you for it all.
