If small blasters had their dispersion fixed at the current minimum I think they'd be competent weapons. I'd rather see them hotfixed into usefulness than removed.
The inverse dispersion model was just a bad idea for them. |

There's still and issue with shooting small turrets and not being synced properly with vehicle movements. While moving the angle you're firing from changes dramatically.
You could probably iron this out if the bullets were made to always end where the player is aiming. I'll draw a diagram to show how I think it's currently working.
Diagram
I don't know much about netcode, but I think the endpoint of the line traced should always be the client side gunners instead of what seems to be the vehicle's change in direction offsetting the turret.

Small rails are also pretty rubbish in my experience.
I've said many times that I think the small blaster should be buffed. Start by getting rid of the inverse dispersion. As suggested, the dispersion should start at the current minimum and increase slowly. The weapon needs a certain level of accuracy to be effective. |

I run 3 ion cannons and 2 damage mods+heatsink. The small blasters can destroy tanks by themselves.

The inverse dispersion model was just a bad idea for them. Also, give them more range. They should be like the AR, but with more damage. They're turrets, God Damn it!

I use small blasters on my incubus. I am currently in training. They have great damage rof and range for their anti infantry purpose. The whole lets mimic the assault hmg dispersion is really hard to work with considering the overheat comes rather quickly in comparison to how many bullets actually get near the target.
Heat sinks increase overall dps , but I find damage mods work best. They give my small blaster that extra oomph. And dispersion stabilizers break small blasters by never allowing it to get more accurate.
For real though I'd never use it competitively. It truly does suck. I understand each thing requires practice , but damn. My love for the gallente knows no limits so that's why I run the blaster on my incubus. ******* scrubs anyone who ever uses a rail incubus. Sullying the name of the gallente with that stupid caldari tech. In fact **** you ccp for making a gallente vehicle get a bonus to a weapon of caldari origin.
While slow to anger and occasionally indecisive, they are also capable of harnessing enormous resolve when truly tested.

I need to run small blasters on my tight fitting missile tanks, which sucks for my gunners, but most people can't hit the barn side of abroad with the rails either.
It would be nice if the solo HAVs had enough fitting to actually match a three seater.

You're kidding, right? Small Blasters have never been better. I have to fit them on my rail tank to free up some CPU (they actually have the lowest CPU requirement of the small turrets) and I love having blueberries defend me from close enemies. I even switch seats sometimes to kill enemies in a pinch. They shred enemies and even have somewhat decent projection. Of course, rails and missiles have more utility against vehicles, but blasters aren't that bad.
Granted, they are terrible for LAVs and DSs due to their nature, but for tanks they work very well.

Small blasters are only good if you are staying still. Small railguns require 100% accuracy
