I routinely use uplinks for EWAR.
Try placing a couple of MLT uplinks in locations where they are unlikely to get spawns and then keeping an eye on them to see if they disappear. Generally that is a good sign that a scout is or has been in that area. They always give up their location for that 5 points.
This is the only use for MLT and if you start getting any spawn points from them they should immediately be replaced with something better.

There has been talks of adding profile to equipment before, even Ratatti has chimed in on it.
I think ultimately that idea and the following balancing nightmare was moved to the bottom of the pile for reasons.
Personally I think there should just be a scaled scan profile added to current equipment based on tier just to give a little more incentive to run proto equipment because it is ugly out there when it comes to deployables.

Huh. I didn't know this had been discussed before. Any forum links?
It was just mentioned in passing here in F&I.
I will do a little searching to see if I can find it.

Google for the win. Found that faster than I expected.

we want to make skilling into and using high tier Equipment more rewarding.
All that said and done, what do you think base values should be for Equipment, I would prefer keeping it simple at first and all of them share the same Scan Profile, and then make some special types more or less visible.
My simple theory was to mimic Dropsuit Profiles
Equipment: STD/ADV/PRO = 55/45/35
Drop Uplinks: STD/ADV/PRO = Nanohives: STD/ADV/PRO = Proximity: STD/ADV/PRO = Remote: STD/ADV/PRO =
Please discuss
I really wish this would be revived. I only remembered it so well because I felt like it would be a huge change.

It is already proto or gtfo with equipment so I would rather those profile numbers be spread across different variants throughout all tiers.
My GoogleFu is currently at proficiency 4. My memory for the custom search operators is lacking so I just can't finish off level 5.
I could agree with multiple variants across each tier that have their own gives and takes such as spawn time, spawn count, and profile.
I would also move for all spawn times to be normalized and the Amarr logi bonus be applied to profile and spawn count.
