Here are my suggestions on how to improve pubs.
Ambush
- Limit map to a large city socket. Maps currently way too big. - Introduce 'Last man standing' mode when clone count reaches zero - Remove Orbitals
Domination
- Introduce progressive damage, just like Acquisition, so that a game where the point never changes hands is over in half the time. - Place the points in areas which are less easy to defend. Currently way too easy to fortify and hold all game. - Possibly consider merging the Q with Acquisition
Acquisition
- Introduce variable timers, so that a point can be worth more than others. - Make the PTU number a nice round amount, like 500 or 1000, instead of 720? - Introduce a victory screen voice over, games always seem to awkwardly end in a pretty abrupt manner. - Consider merging Q with Dom.
Skirmish
- Implement the teleporters to shorten running times between points - [Controversial] Consider removing from pubs entirely. Would add more players to the other modes, making matchmaking easier, would also draw more players to FW
- Good points for ambush, although I generally find the whole "run around and kill everything you see" concept a bit boring. - I loathe Domination, so merging queues with Acq. would just make me not play any of the two anymore. Placing Domination points in areas that are harder to defend would improve it, but it would still be a game mode with too little room for sneakiness and variation in tactics. - Teleporters in every Skirmish match would diminish its worth, since part of the charm is the challenges and possible tactics introduced by distance. Also, stomp squads will be way more efficient if they can just zip from point to point by teleportation. No room for solo players or weaker squads to hack a point while the stomp squad is busy elsewhere. - I can never find a squad for FW during the rather short time windows I have for playing Dust. Which means I have to queue solo, more often than not leaving me queuing forever (10 minutes++). And when I do get in as a solo player, it's almost always a total stomp for either my team or the opposition. Which is boring. So, unless the FW experience improves significantly, removing Skirmish from pub matches will basically just make sure the play time I'll put into Dust will be minimal. |
