Been getting quite a bit of lag lately, not just with dust and did a test from the PS (I know it says estimates not sure how accurate it really is) and got
 25 down
 8 up
then tried from my laptop and got
 25 down
 10 up
the PS is wired the laptop is wireless so yeah don't think that should happen.
It's a 1st gen slim and felt kinda wonky for the last few months, now does anyone know if this might be it's just an old ps and dying or some sort of wierd net connection issue?

Your connection looks fine if you're talking in Mb/s. You don't need a lot to play videogames actually ^^

You should reset your modem/router (however you call this) if you haven't for a long time !

i dont think the ps3 can go above 29mbps down or up. Seems logical since back in 2006 who had over 20mbps in the world? other than South Korea, Japan, and maybe some European countries.

I rarely lag, but I do suffer from frame rate issues.

The whole upload thing is always a bit misleading:

you should have a decent upload speed, but most of the times anything > 1 Mb/sec is on par with all upper upload speeds. What you truly want is a very low ping to the server you're connected to: the ping is basically the time it takes to a signal to arriveto the server plus the time it takes to send that information back to you.

So, if you have 100 ms latency towards Dust battle server A, you'll actually see and react at things that already happened (100 ms ago). Needless to say that if you have like 20 ms latency it's almost unperceivable, and you should have a much better experience.

You could try turning off some computer programs that doesn't take much bandwith but inevitably affect your ping: things like what's app, facebook, downloads in progress, torrent files, streamings etc.

Reminds me of the day my friend bought his ps4,being the idiot he was,he assaumed he could download about four huge games on WiFi(which is now slighlty broken) all I had to do to slow down his downloads was watch a YouTube video on my phone. His download speed would just turtle and stop. And of course none of my friends understand anything about technology(like a alarge amount of iPhone users) he thought that the Xbox live not connecting was because I needed to reset the router(i maintain anything technical)even though I looked at the Xbox live status page and saw server issues. In short. Lol download speed to dank pls nerf ccp.

Something to remember is that packet distribution on your router does not give priority to your PS3. This affect is less evident with download thanks to the higher speed but you can end up with some really weird effects with upload based on your router.

The equipment / software to test this is very expensive but I have done some testing across 5 different routers using custom code on 2 outside severs to toy with this and gotten some very interesting results. Basically do not just take those numbers you are getting at face value because there is crazyness going on behind it all.

If you feel that your upload is negatively affecting you try turning off all other devices just to see if you experience a difference. In the event you do it may be time for you to upgrade your network overall and maybe go up to a more custom setup if you are looking for a completely optimized experience.
