VAHZZ wrote:Besides the text regarding SKINS, I would like to see more DUST lore period. One aspect of lore I would like to see is Chronicles. Perhaps some detailing Mordu's Private Trials and Battle for Caldari Prime. Perhaps some detailing the inception of the "Immortals" long past the opening video. We were found in those stasis capsules, as shown in the video seen whenever you first boot up the game for the very first time, and in game at the bottom of the menu. How did we get put there? I don't see DUST Chronicles in-game being all that hard to accomplish, especially since I don't see it taking up much RAM or memory, It could be made into another tab on the menu. I would say next to the Instructions tab, but nobody ever looks there, except maybe to watch the video that brings me to tears every time. I want to see more out-of-game, but maybe only a few can be put in-game, like the Inception of the Immortals. [I am reserving this for further edits, because at the moment, I can not think of all the things lore-wise that I would love to see implemented.] EDIT 1: THIS is the DUST Chronicles. There is barely any, there are only 11 entires - where EVE has well into the hundreds. There are even in-game corporations that have made it into EVE Lore, have their own Chronicles too I believe. We need this. I also do want to see lore-based descriptions for the SKINs, but I want to see this more.
The issue with getting these written is that you basically need an author to write it and then have the content vetted by the ISD Mercury Team (I think....they deal with that sort of thing) who then would submit it to CCP who would then vet it even more thoroughly before accepting it a canon.
Simply put you cannot just churn out crap and expect it to make the grade.

JIMvc2 wrote:I came up with a great idea that would make Factional Warfare better would be is instead of us waiting minutes to deploy. Why not select the contract that a merc wants to do. High sec would pay a normal LP payout with minimal loot.
While Low sec would pay much higher LP and Loot but that type of Low sec contract would have a price tag = That would favor those who want a great/epic.Difficult/Corp Battle type with high risk and high rewards.
Because I remember back then we had 4 to 5 contracts (battles) to select and it was useful.
I dont mind having 8 vs 8 FW battles in Low Sec with Corporations in FW = It would be just like Corp battles but only in FW.
The High,Medium, and Low sec would be limited by the Meta Levels.
I'm not sure how much Meta is for a militia, advance, and Proto everything on a dorpsuit such as,
Militia dropsuit L/M/H with Militia High/Low Moduals Militia Light/Sidearm/Heavy weapons slot, Grenade slot, and Equipment.
^ Same with Proto having everything Proto
This would drastically change the game and make new players vs new players, Casual vs Casual, and Vet vs Vet.
Not all contracts would appear for everyone. For new players only High sec would appear but that would be in Public contracts ONLY and I think Public should just be High sec. Not saying Causal and Vets can't join which they can but once FW Medium and Low sec would be the most common contracts BUT at a price of LP only.
This is just my idea so think about it for a while.
FW never takes place in High Security Space. It is exclusively a proxy war talking place in low security space for the economic benefit of the four empires. No territory is lost or gained and winning means nothing only a continuation of status quo.
What would be more appropriate for your design are
Novice, Small, Medium, Large Complex Contracts.

This is a great idea. I guarantee that 95% of the people that play this game don't even know that there are events constantly happening on EVE. Of those that know few probably check EVE World News. It would be fantastic if in the corner of my Mercenary room I had a large hologram of headline news, and when I opened it I could read it in real time, and see the news. Right now just about nobody knows about Drifters, and that should change. Exactly. >.> The Amarrian empress is possibly (maybe) dead (again). This should be something the active player knows.
Falcon confirmed she is 'as dead as a can of spam' and 'not coming back'.

And felt like I was really fighting for something. Special maps for these events and so on and so on. Would be cool. I am actually surprised we haven't had a event like that in a while. Adding on to this as well. Faction Warfare events every once in a while would be fun. If not Faction Warfare, then Special Events for the public like when we had to choose whether to fight against the Blood Raiders or help them. We can actually get Blood Raider suits now for it lol. Or maybe a series of events that changes outcome with the actions of the players? Basically like the Caldari Prime event in how the Titan fell when the Gallente won.
The Gallente won the space side conflict because arguably that battle was scripted.... as jumping something like half a dozen Moros to 0 on the Shigeru was a rather decisive action.
The Caldari were confirmed to have one the ground conflict giving them leverage enough to demand concessions of the Federation resulting in Ishukone picking up the contracts to begin rebuilding on the Caldari Homeworld as well as the establishment of demilitarized zones controlled by Mordu's Legion.

Let me spell it out for you.
SHE WAS CONFIRMED BY A CCP DEVELOPER WHO DEALS WITH THE LORE THAT SHE IS NOT COMING BACK AND HAS DIED THE FINAL DEATH.

Fair enough. I'm still surprised they killed her off that fast. She was a pretty interesting character, and they could have done better things. It was just such a boring way to die. It's how you would expect someone boring like Jacus Roden to die. He was supposed to be this conniving businessman, and instead everything he says is quaint and diplomatic. In all honesty I wouldn't be surprised if they killed her off, even at the cost of plot holes, on the basis that they were behind on lore. Someone from management probably said to kill her off so they could get rolling on the event.
Yeah she was very interesting and frankly I'd have liked to have seen her develop more before her death perhaps doing something rather interesting that could have told us what kind of Empress she would have been for the Amarr....
Peacemaker and breaking the mould of the Sarum Family, or War Hero who reignites the need for the Reclaiming and starts the 25th Reclaimation....
Instead she gets hit by 95-ish Drifter Doomsdays in a cut scene without even allowing players to get stuck into a fight with the Drifters.....
Either way we will get to see the Succession Trials next year in April and the investiture of a new Amarrian Emperor (most likely a male as 4 of 5 Heirs are male).
I want Lady Catiz Tash-Murkon to claim her place as the Empress. We need an intelligent and canny leader with the vision to bring the Amarr into a new age and release it from the traditionalist tenets that prevent it from achieving it full capacity.

More of those little bits would be fantastic. I want people to know more about the suits and colors that they wear. This seems like it would be really easy to implement as well.
+1
P.S. The Drifters didn't kill the Empress. Hubris killed the Empress.
No..... I can attest to the fact that the combined fire from almost dozens of Drifter Battleships killed the Empress.
Also for the Tash-Murkon Sentinel are you talking about the warrior Anasoma and how he was a Udorian Warrior sealed in his armour after he was betrayed and sealed in his armour.

Empress Jamyl was killed by Hubris. General Custer was killed by Arrogance. Anasoma was betrayed and melted into his own battle armor, which is certifiably badass. What part of that does not visually correlate?
I don't think hubris is the right word.
No entity within New Eden could have expected or prevented a Fleet of 200 battleships with the newly displayed ability to fire a doomsday weapon offensively to suddenly appear. Or that their combined fire power was instantly able to overwhelm a Titans prolific defenses in a time frame that left the defending forces of the Imperial Guard without even the ability to approach before instantly disappearing.

Sorry, but I can't accept that. I really do think that New Eden deserves better, and I know plenty of people that would be overjoyed to help make what I suggest a reality.
We could just hit the backstage forums and skype and do that **** ourselves..... y'know establish a relatively believable baseline and capabilities for our kind as well as the more generic technological aspects such as clone maintenance, etc.
Perhaps if we do a good enough job we can submit it to Mercury who can take it from there.

Aeon Amadi wrote:jane stalin wrote:I would lose immersion in a film about vietnam war if the American soldiers all had AK-47s and not M-16s
It does break my immersion using my caldari flying scotsman as is with an assault rifle and scrambler pistol Just change the description to say it was designed by Mercs to fit a specific situation, It is NOT what a Caldari soldier would use
Immersion is subjective to the player. A lot of players said that Myofibrils were immersion breaking but I always laugh at that because... well, best to just explain it. We're 23,000 years in the future. We have ships that can warp through planets, jump entire solar systems in the blink of an eye, we can transfer our consciousness instantly from one clone to the next - which in itself, cloning is a miracle. So when someone says, "Oh that dude jumping on top of that big crate there breaks immersion" I think that they must have a very, very confined imagination and really just trying to find a way to say, "I just don't like it" that can't be argued against as easily. It's science fiction. Which, even though it is science fiction, the devs stated at one point many years ago that Eve Online doesn't operate on Newtonian Physics. So the only thing that's really immersion-breaking is if they up and decided you can start shitting out fireballs and using mana or some BS but even -THAT- is up for debate because Jamyl apparently is freaggin telepathic, though that may be due to her implants (if any) more than 'magic'. As an example: The only thing immersion breaking about Myo's is that they're a blue bottle of apparent biotic juice. If they had called Myo's "Hydraulic Leg Enhancement Donkey Kickers" no-one would question their immersive capabilities, they'd just accept that there is something mechanical that makes you jump higher. EDIT: Added strategically placed emoji to illustrate the light-heartedness of this post.
It was interesting to see Mizhara post a 'It's almost like magic' fiction challenge on the Backstage forums..... got me thinking that yeah my typical defaults are set to believable story telling even though our characters exist in such a rich science fiction world.
I'm working on developing some more fantastic elements for my New Eden story telling atm.

Death Shadow117 wrote:R F Gyro wrote:Give us some reason to remember who we fought for in public battles.
Rather than always fighting for some random entity against some other random entity on some random planet, have ongoing wars between two well defined sides, in a single system or constellation. Each war should last a few days or weeks, and there should only be a handful of wars going on at once.
At the start of each war, post a brief summary of the background - preferably in-game, but maybe just on the forums.
At the end of the war, another post to say what the outcome was, preferably driven in some way by the actions of the players.
so pubs would be more dynamic to the game like fw? Thatd be kinda cool.
I've suggested this before. Small background synopses of these conflicts that cover who is fighting, why, and the resolution.
