It really depends on how many matches you play. If you are hammering out 4+ matches per day, every day, then passive boosters are a waste of AUR. Buy active and you will get more bang for your buck.
However, if you are like some of us with jobs, kids, and other games to play, resulting in 3 - 5 matches per week then passive boosters net you more SP.
I have always been a fan of 1 active and 1 passive myself.

Booster is a booster. More SP. However they cost too much Aurum compared to what they give in return. If they were cheaper, then sure.
Ps. Passive booster = one free battle every day (12k sp). You would be better with active playing one battle a day

A Dust 514 starter pack is $0.99 and gives you a 3-day active booster and 1,250 AUR. That's not a bad deal if you are looking to play Dust heavily one weekend.

if you have alts that you want to maintain have to take a break or just want to take a break passive sp boosters are a great way to get more SP for doing nothing other then straight out paying for it
24k sp per day is pretty good and can allow you to skill up every once in a while just from that alone, doubling that or triple stacking for a 2.5x increase means you can cut that time in half instead of taking 4 or 5 days to train a 100k skill you can do it in 2 just from the passive sp alone
for a casual player that only puts in say about 1 or 2 hours in a day, depending on how well they do in those matches the passive boosters would benefit them more then active boosters would
for an active booster to surpass a passive one you have to grind out more passive sp then a passive booster will get you, about 12k for one 24k for two and 36k for three, in order to get that much you have to get 24k sp from playing matches alone which may not be so easy for some, and keep in mind that players that cap out very quickly can also benefit more from passive boosters rather then active ones as after you cap you only get 1k max sp not including the bonuses but even with those only getting about 2.5k a match easily makes passive boosters more desirable

I was writing in reference to passive boosters. Passive booster cost is not very attractive.
One battle a day with active booster is more than passive can give you during a week.

I'd like to have active boosters per battle. 1 day would be 5 battle, 3 days -> 20, 7 days -> 50 and 30 days -> 300 battles ! >:D
Then CCP don't change the prices, and everybody buys 300 battles boosters, and they get rich AF.

One battle: (12k SP)(50% active booster) = 18k SP (a 6k SP gain)
(6,000)(7 days in a week) = 42k extra SP from the active booster
Meanwhile...
(24k passive SP per day)(50% passive booster) = 36k SP (a 12k SP gain)
(12,000)(7 days in a week) = 84k extra SP from the passive booster
42,000 < 84,000

I like them. Since I don't play as much as I used to, they're quite handy.
