So I had this idea which I believe will force pretty much the whole team to fight as a unit, with one clear objective. It might even solve the issue of teams being redlined.
I will use Domination as an example - the closer you stay to an objective for the duration of the match the larger the amount of ISK and SP you will get paid out.
Here is a (very rough) breakdown:
1-50m of objective GÇô highest possible ISK and SP payout 51-100m of objective GÇô 70% amount of ISK and SP 101-200m of objective GÇô 50% amount of ISK and SP 201-300m of objective GÇô 30% amount of ISK and SP 300m + of objective GÇô lowest possible ISK and SP payout.
If a team gets redlined, then clearly they will be in the lower bracket (or however far they are from the objective). But the team defending the red line will also get the lowest possible score as they will be further away from objective too, pushing the attackers into the redline.
The incentive is to stick to a radius within the targets above, earning a reasonable amount of ISK and SP in a battle.
If they team defending is intent on redlining anyway, then not much can be done.

Proto damps and a proto cloak on a scout sitting 45m away from objective. The ultimate afk.

Interesting idea. Any way it could backfire and exacerbate the "leave battle" problem?

Not if they don't earn any WP's. |

Players leave a battle because they don't like the look of the other team or they don't like the map.
I can't see this changing to be honest.
Unless players are on a timer and can't leave a match for 5 minutes. |

This would break the system, as you have people that play (counter) sniper roles that flank their enemies, you have people with tanks that hunt down stragglers, or harass people trying to bring in their tanks/LAV/DS. Yes, there is the incentive to not redline the other team, because all your hard work is for not because you're not getting enough for the few deaths and equipment losses you'll face.
It is unwise to force people to have to play a certain way, or cutting out certain ways of play. That's how you lose players in your player base, by penalizing them for (not) playing a certain way.
Change this to a bonus amount of ISK and SP then it makes more sense, but not as the way the pay outs work . |

Completely agree with this.
Making the ISK and SP additional (as oppossed to getting nothing at all) will not restrict player style but hopefully encourage some players to be more active or even change play styles given they have a chance to earn a bonus.
Thanks for the feedback. |
