Sorry for being a CoD noon but is it possible to hold your breath while sniping? I swear I would have gotten 5 extra kills if my scope stayed still. |

Gotta train your sniping skill up it reduces the sway. |

I would loveto see "Hold Breath" breath: maybe assigned to L2/R2 It would solve the problem of automatic scope stabilization that ATM is broken.
Really instead then getting "your aim is 5% more stable" we coudl have a "you can hold your breath 5% longer". Hold Breath could also use stamina; this would balance it a lot: if you have just stopped after a long run you have to wait before using hold breath because ti would last too little. In this case the skill could read like this " Holding breath consumes 5% less stamina" |

i felt the same about sniping OP, id hold off on sniping for now and just go assault, snipers arent a very effective till you unlock the sniper proficiency skill to stop the sway, so just keep dumping SP into sniper operations and buy the proficiency skill book next if recon is what your aiming for(maybe save same SP for future updates in recon) |

Could also have Meal Gear type Diazepam mods that automatically reduce sway but lower your overall stamina. |

So instead that "hold breath " you activate a module that releases a diazepam-like substance in you body?! It is a nice idea, soldiers using drugs to improve performance, but still holding breath is cheaper...as long as in EVE people still breath ;) |

Or smokes!
Smoking is hazardous to your health.
I kid of course. I don't snipe so I can't really comment much on this, but I think CCP wants to encourage you to skill up instead of just give you the option to reduce sway without having to invest SP into sniping skills. Same goes from really any weapon in the game, they want to force you to use SP to get your gun to do what you want it to do, so I doubt they'll implement a way to bypass it.
EDIT: On another thought, the idea of a Bionic that reduces sway/recoil is actually not a bad idea. I wouldn't be against that |

Sniping is fine as is. Once you get both skills to 5, it's ALOT easier to deal with. Less QQ, More SP investment. |

^^^ Still scope sway is something we can't control, we can reduce it with skills, but it's something automatically handled by the game. (I am not complaining) Instead with "hold your breath" we would be the ones to control it: more power to the players. It's a different design philosophy but who knows, CCP might embrace it. |

The generally accepted way to steady your sights when firing at long distances is to wait for your exhale, then fire during the natural pause in your breath. Firing while holding your breath has many downsides. For one, the body is more prone to shake while inhaling. Also, any amount of movement can cause you to exhale slightly- this includes your trigger squeeze.
Remember, just because you've seen a feature in a game before doesn't mean it's actually valid. These games you are calling "realistic" often have two weapons that both fire a 5.56 NATO round and do drastically different damage. Worse yet, CoD considers FMJ to be an upgrade from "standard" ammo. I guess being the only ammo used by any military compliant to the Hague Convention against personnel just doesn't make it "standard" enough!
Off of my CoD soapbox, my point is that CCP should be looking at features that would add realism, balance, or encourage tactical thinking. Just because other games have used a feature doesn't mean it has a place in DUST. |

Well "hold breath" is something that belongs to Sniper simulation games so it's "realistic".

This to me isn't a bad idea. It could be set in the Trade Good's section of the Market (Where Food and Meds are) and I could see Merc's buying them up for battles. |

I haven't sniped since the first day I joined the beta, but I recall that if you crouch and bring up the scope the sway goes away after a minute. It sounds like you're complaining you can make pinpoint accurate shots while on the move.
As to comments about realism. Ignoring the fact we're all supposed to be immortal clones, we're supposed to be in suits of powered armor. The reason why you control your breathing when firing in real life is to minimize the effect of your pulse and such on the rifle, whereas in the game there's an inch or so (at a guess) of powered armor between your skin and the gun.
Basically, comments about "make it real" sound kind of weird when talking about a sci-fi game set thousands of years in the future. |

^^^ Set thousands of years in the future and still there's no way to eliminate scope sway, and snipers can't go prone. As it is now Holding Breath gives us a feasible solution to the sway problem, the only downside is that is very old-fashioned one ;) |

Using the crouch feature makes sniping rather feasible in my opinion. |

If you crouch while sniping scope sway is easily ignored for the two seconds its actually there, even without the skill to reduce sway. |
