Since there seems to be no shortage of requests to in some way nerf speed directly, incapacitate players, provide auto aim etc.. I feel it would be appropriate to add weapons that ignore armor to help the heavies of the game get some balancing love.
How about a pistol that kills you once it breaks your shield?
Maybe a gun that does damage to you equal to your mass. Like a gravity gun but not for throwing.
Sounds good right? |

This sounds awful for balancing purposes, as it removes 50% or more from the HP of every target effectively. You would have to be a nutter to not use this. |

He was being sarcastic. You can never tell, and I was giving him the benefit of the doubt and assuming he was not posting a useless troll thread, and instead was trying to give a real suggestion. |

Do the math.
People want countless ways to negate the defensive advantage a scout or assault suit has due to speed.
An armor ignoring gun would be about the only equalizer vs heavy at that point. |

I did the math, and this would neutralize everything, not just heavies. There would be little reason to use any other weapon, and would make every Armour and repair skill obsolete.
Also, I find it utterly bizarre that you are submitting a proposition not for countering something in-game, but for countering what a minority of users are requesting and likely will not be implemented. Balancing with crystal balls seems most unwise. |

People who call for the nerf of heavies simply do not how to properly engage them. A heavy is tougher to kill but it is by no means unbalanced. The only thing that currently needs tweaks about heavies is the weapons, not the suits.
The suits die quickly when people have the know-how!
You're asking for weapons to cater to a group of people who lack understanding, not balance the game. This isn't about skill, balance, or fairness. People call for nerfs and changes to things when they do not understand, and I think this suggestion is another one of those cases. |

This is the end of the world. I'm agreeing with Nova.. :P
I've taken on MANY heavies while using my scout with swarm to go after LAV/HAV/Dropships, and I do not take out the SWARM to deal with them, but rather just dance around them and use my backup. SMG. I don't always KILL them entirely, but very rarely do I leave the engagement without them being down to at least 30% armor. I used to be one of those guys complaining about the heavies too, but having stopped going STRAIGHT at them, I've managed to increase my success and survivability in dealing with them.

who knows, maybe in the future there will be ammo that works better against shields or armor that can be used in our different weapons. |

Actually, maybe to make some good out of this, how about a weapon that affects shields only, like an emp or something, like that ion disrupter in X2. |

Bwahahaa...oh god is he being serious?
Weapons that ignore armor would allow you to kill a heavy with a single shot to the foot. Heavies shields are so bad they might as well not exist, this would utterly and completely make heavies pointless to use. Now if you wanted weapons that were more effective vs armor, such as explosive damage in EVE, I'd be willing to talk. But to make weapons that completely ignore armor? LOL |
