might have already been posted but down the line maybe CCP brings out a player map-making system.
like Halo forge.
players can submit their custom maps for a month of un-ranked battle moon testing and at the end of the month have a vote and the most popular player map gets official incorporation into a list of Eve playable maps.
or some similar type of customization setup.
even if your map doesn't get officially adopted, you could maybe host private UN-ranked matches for fun.
CCP could even charge for this option if it gets popular as I assume there is some server and software overhead to accomodate this.
coming from BF and COD, I dont think players would mind paying extra to be able to design and play on custom maps other than the official vanilla maps.
or you could run it as a monthly contest - best custom player map maker gets $$$ ISK and bragging rights. |

Dust 514 will offer fighting over 3000 planets at launch, and each planet has from 10-20 districts, thats a total of 30,000 to 60,000 maps at launch that will all be randomly generated, and will look different each time you fight on them...Are you still asking for more custom made maps??... |

I believe he's talking about making maps for the arena type matches talked about for the future. Not maps for the planetary stuff.
That said, player voted maps would be a horrible idea for official maps, specifically because there are a lot of large organized groups in the EVE universe that don't exactly care about fair. I could easily see them creating one that gives them an advantage (specifically rigged to favor their style of play) and then creating a vote campaign to get it into the official arena rotation.
I do think adding some sort of map development kit somewhere down the road might be a good idea though. Partly because I think it would be fun, partly because it would mean CCP could spend more time on the planetary maps, and also because if you made the code a little open I'm sure the community could come up with tools for working on maps the developers could then use.
So, yes on some sort of map making down the road. No on having anyone other than CCP decide on what official maps go into rotation. |

People who own the districts will already be able to dictate what buildings or structures will be on the map, essentially giving them control over the non-terrain aspects of the appearance of the map. |

Its not that its bad, but unlike other game swe will be fighting on actual terrain on actual planets, the battle launcher make it looks like they are simply maps, but they will be actually true pieces of already existing planets.
That said, I dont see why a given district coudl not be customized using some sort of player input / contest.
Of course, that 1 map woudl be lost in the middle of thousands of other maps, still, why not?
CCP could provide the district terrain, and a player would go about placing the structures, etc. The chosen map could replace the original one.
Well, the posibility certainly exists, but isnot something that would be highlighted in the middle of all the other maps. |

Great idea, but IMO it doesn't belong in this universe. We won't need it when you think about the 7000+ temperate planets at 20-30 districts (maps) per planet. I doubt anyone will ever play on the all the maps in their life time, let a lone in the life time of the game.
Plus, and I hate to break it to you and I seem to sound like a broken record, comparing this game and the type of experience it is attempting to deliver to us is NOT COD, HALO, BF, MOH, SOCOM, GRAW, GRFS, or any of the other games out there (Planet Side 2). So I ask, why would you want the same old vanilla treat, when you have delicious HOT Mexican chocolate with chiles?
**** Vanilla. I'll take this sexy chocolate beast that stands before me. |

some broken records you can just skip over a track that's scratched up and still play the rest.
the reason myself and others compare Dust to Cod/BF/Halo Planetside 2 etc is that is where the mainstream game majority will be coming from.
these players KNOW vanilla and right or wrong - are likely EXPECTING the quick to order Vanilla goody they are used to.
they are NOT used to waiting 12 hours for the extra goody Mexi choco chile goodness.
I bet most will give up waiting after 1/2 hour and go back to the vanilla.
the only people left will be a few hardcore types who are willing to tackle the steep learning curve and the skillpoint grind.
i.e. - the 12 hour wait. |

Good gawd, can we get the game released first before we start talking about expansion packs and player mods? |

Theres no forge mode in Planetside 2 either because it is also a persistent mmofps.
There may be some kind of holo simulator you can mess about with. But I doubt it will be anytime soon.

What wait?
The only wai i see comming is in null sectors where war really matters and battles will have to be organized somewhat.
High sec battles will be fought among NPC's corps and most likelly a player or a formed group of players will be able to insta join a random battle in a system>planet>district figthting over some random contract owned by a npc.
