since the general idea is to get Dust and EVE to work close together i was wondering - could dust get a role in factional warfare as well?
Let's say the CN guys are trying to take a system from Minm, they go in, run the sites and when they are all good and done they send in the meat to take the HUB
I see this working by a message popping up on screen for the DUST player that they can join this certin battle - and it won't start before there is16 or 32 players on each team to fight over the HUB. in chase 30 min or so go by and there isent enough the battle will begin anyway (not getting grunts to the right place in time is a RL problem to)

Mercs will have a hard time accepting contracts from Pirates and Pirates will have a hard time paying Mercs. For those not familiar with EVE, low sec is where most of Faction Warfare takes place. In EVE there are 5 dominant factions (NPC mega alliances), and 4 of them are at near constant war in the spaces where the 5th faction is at it's weakest: the regions of space called low sec (or low security).
At the same time though, in keeping with the Dust ideals, these battles would have to be massive multi-continent / multi-planet affairs. Because of this, a single FW system could easily contain all of the low sec battles to take place for a couple of years.

I think I understand what's been said.
With that, I believe something like this would work great for those players not involved with a corporation of their own or any other player looking for something somewhat storyline.
I would love to see CCP do something like this on a massive scale. A full time battlefront that players can join between two factions. This is where I would want the 48v48 or 64v64 player count..
I think CCP may have already tossed this idea out the door however. |

And the fun part CCP could do it on a single planet and have enough content to last for decades. As I mentioned previously there are 5 dominant factions, but there are hundreds of sub-factions and corporations... But even more importantly for this, there are multiple "races". I put that in quotes because some of them do not really qualify as races, but it is the best word that fits. One of the worst / most prevalent are called rogue drones that have become semi-sentient. These drones use nanotechnology to duplicate themselves. The idea is that a single planet (Yulai IV for exaple) has become infested with a rogue drone facility. |

I like the idea about the drones.
if it works as it should we might even get lucky and get throwen into the incursions |

I would love to see incursions, unfortunately I cannot see how they would do it as PvP... Traditionally Sansha has been extremely secretive, so I can't see them hiring Mercs during the incursion... Perhaps hiring Mercs to weaken a system before an incursion begins? |

not to be the nay-sayer here, but i think it's somewhat understood that figthing either drones or sansha would end up beeing a put together effort against an AI.
for the same reason i see it to be easyer to kick off FW for DUST |

Faction Warfare is where Dust 514 will begin once hitting TQ. At least thats what i remember hearing.. somewhere..
Drones will be a very interesting thing to see once put into the game. If we hold a planet and a random drone hive pops up and slows production/extraction from the district and you need to send some of your guys there to clear it up to keep making ISK, that would be something that would keep people coming back. not only do they have to attack others districts but they would have to defend theirs against drones and players. (if they are in a corp that does both) |

You forget that the Nation has capsuleer corps that are "aligned" to that cause and so, it would not be impossible for Merc's to align this way aswell, or to take a contract, after all "Greens, get da money....dolla dolla bills ya'll" |
