In the Caldari State, the Chief Executive Panel has expressed its "deep regrets and condolences to the Amarr people." The CEP's official statement described Empress Jamyl as "a figure of great importance to the friendly relations between State and Empire, who will be missed by all State and Corporation citizens. We mourn her and commend her spirit to its lasting and final place."
The Executive Panel may attempt to pass our condolences in an attempt to save face and maintain our alliance, but as a State citizen the death of the Amarr empress means nothing to me. Better yet, I count this as a blessing from the Winds themselves.
To my brothers and sisters in the Caldari State, mourn not the death of this tyrant. We have freed ourselves from the grips of Heth's reign because we believe in the tenants of meritocracy over aristocracy, corporate or otherwise. For us to fain remorse in this time of vital change for the Amarr would be disgustingly hypocritical, would it not? Make no mistake, the Drifters are not solely to blame here. The Amarr brought this tragedy on themselves. They have paid a heavy price for their obstinance, and the Caldari will suffer in kind for their mistakes.
Her endeavors repeatedly threatened the safety of the Amarr people and subsequently the Caldari. Her destruction at the hands of the Drifter Armata was a product of her own creation, risking everything by senseless facing them in battle rather than waiting for a coordinated response from her allies. This tragedy, I assure you, was of their own accord.
Now the Golden Fleet is in ruins, effectively leaving the Caldari State without a concrete ally against the Gallente Federation, Sansha Incursions, and the possibility of a secondary Drifter assault. All because of poor executive discussions and an archaic insistence to cling to a broken monarch.
We will continue to suffer for them, so long as we allow them the luxury of our cooperation. How long must the state suffer diplomatically by upholding a form of government that condones slavery? How long must young Caldari men and women be sent to fight and die alongside the Amarr in conflicts that we hold no personal sake in, in pursuit of an ideal that we are fundamentally at odds with? How long will we continue this alliance of 'convenience' all the while trying desperately to forget that if the Amarr could have their way we would be targeted for a mass Reclamation?
I say no more. For the Caldari to succeed, we must hold the Amarr accountable for their failure. I say may all State assets be seized immediately. I say may we support our friends within the Khanid family to succeed the empress as a fully soverign provisional government to aid areas within Caldari influence.
The time is now comrades. For us to rise, the royal family must fall.

This has to be one of the most pathetic and ignorant things my associates and I have ever had the misfortune of reading on this net.
We have however decided to address your incredibly uneducated world-views point by point.
Firstly, despite events like the firing of the mysterious super-weapon during the Minmatar invasion of YC110, and the varying theories on the subsequent consequences (up to and including the appearance of the first wormholes), or even her supposed maladies and bouts of mental instability, Empress Jamyl Saurum was the bringer of a great deal of positive change to New Eden as a whole. Her emancipation of countless slaves, sharing of various technologies, and willingness to come to the table with the other leaders of New Eden proved her to be a rational, compassionate leader.
I am curious as to why you think the Amarr brought the wrath of the Drifters upon themselves. While it is true they were the only empire to take real action against the intruders, it was also clear that the Drifters had more interest in the Amarr than anyone else. While you may see this as evidence of the Amarr secretly doing something they should not have been, that is mere speculation. You can hardly blame them for moving to defend themselves against a perceived threat. You call them obstinate as an insult, but they are no more so than any other empire, especially your own. I would very much like to hear you explain how the Amarr "brought this tragedy on themselves".
You say the Amarr should have waited for allies to assist them. A "co-ordinated response" as you put it. It has been half a year since the first appearance of the Drifters, and their incursions into sovereign territories. If their allies can't find the time to co-ordinate something within that time frame, they are either incompetent or unwilling. The State of course was, and continues to be, the latter. Never forget that when the Empress asked for allies to come to her aid, the other empires refrained involvement, INCLUDING their 'ally' the State.
Despite this, the Amarrian fleet is hardly in ruins. The nation has lost a dear leader, and suffered serious losses in skirmishes, but even all those destroyed amount to only a tiny fraction of the strength of their regional fleets.
Domain Fleet assembled, YC110
Furthermore, the Amarr were never your allies in a fight against the Federation, merely your Bankers.
Are you aware of the massive amount of money that the Amarr empire loaned to the State in order to support it through one of the harshest economic period of it's existence: Heth rise to power and subsequent leadership. Of course you probably aren't aware of the CAESA (Caldari-Amarr Economic Stimulus Agreement) of YC110, and the trillions of ISK the Amarr poured into the State economy just to keep it alive.
Heth then so proudly stated ""Do not think this is charity; this is an obligation. By accepting this, we promise the Empire that they will receive a profit on their investment, which is in the interest of both nations. Our honor is on the line. I expect every citizen to do their State proud".
Did you know that to this day, the State has not paid back the Amarr? A truly wonderful ally the State was, who never showed up when needed and never repaid debts owed, and now you try to somehow condemn the Amarr? For shame.
Lastly, we aren't sure why you believe "young Caldari men and women (are)...sent to fight and die alongside the Amarr". The State Army/Navy, which is ironically far smaller and worse off in every way than any individual corporate force, does not send personnel to fight alongside the Amarr in any way. If you are referring to Capsuleer militias, then you are a fool to think those decisions involve the State in any way. Capsuleers do as they please, and go where they wish.
And so 'I' (we) say, may all similarly boulder-headed Caldari pseudopatriots pull their heads out of the dirt and take a look at what is actually happening in the world around them, rather than making fools of themselves. Perhaps take time to closely examine the events of the past seven years.
Shame on you for your ignorance, mister Fae. You are no more than a small man, thinking he had some sort of clout because he carries a gun. You do not speak for the State, or anyone in it, and are completely bereft of real honour. The Caldari citizens expressing sorrow and regret to the Amarrian people for their loss, they are the real patriots in all this.

Quote:This has to be one of the most pathetic and ignorant things my associates and I have ever had the misfortune of reading on this net. Clearly you don't spend nearly enough time on the Summit.
Quote:Firstly, despite events like the firing of the mysterious super-weapon during the Minmatar invasion of YC110, and the varying theories on the subsequent consequences (up to and including the appearance of the first wormholes), or even her supposed maladies and bouts of mental instability, Empress Jamyl Saurum was the bringer of a great deal of positive change to New Eden as a whole. I'm sorry, I was under the impression that the above reasons alone were enough to facilitate us being weary of her. My interest isn't in her emancipation of 'countless' slaves. Granting a people who have serve their religious empire for nine generations (which would surmount to an average of 300 years of toil while living under the promise that their children will be granted favor in the eyes of their god) while denying freedom for others is hardly an accomplishment in comparison to the history of the Raata Empire. There is no history of slavery among the Caldari even in ancient times, so I dare say the supposid 'positive impact' the empress may have had on the Empire is entirely relative.
As for your the sharing of technology? Well you said it yourself. The woman withheld information on a tactically significant superweapon that arguable led to a cataclysmic explosion than could well have qualified as a several mass extinction evens on a variety of planets. And let's not forget, the only reason why the technology for immortal soldiers spread across the cluster was due to the calamity of Pike's Landing. A clusterfuck by any definition, the technology for the Templars would have remain and exclusive tool of Amarr Reclamation had Jamly herself not apparently been struck down with what I can only assume is psychosis and couldn't decide if she wanted the soldiers destroyed or made their sword of righteous judgement.
As for her willingness to communicate with other leaders across New Eden, I was unaware that this was not a bare minimum requirement for keeping a series of deeply intertwined economies functioning without degrading to a rogue state.
Quote:Despite this, the Amarrian fleet is hardly in ruins. The nation has lost a dear leader, and suffered serious losses in skirmishes, but even all those destroyed amount to only a tiny fraction of the strength of their regional fleets.
A frontal assault on the Imperial Navy Headquarters is not a skirmish. Let's assume that, best case scenario, the Amarr were simply incompetent and incapable of mobilizing an adequate fleet to defend their own military headquarters until the drifters had reached their front door. If that is the case, then a fleet comprising of hundreds of battleships manned by tens of thousands of crew where just barely able to respond in time to save their own skins after sustaining heavy loses. If this 'best case scenario' where to happen, that would mean that despite the massive loses sustained in only the second drifter assault the remainder of the Golden Fleet is still intact according to you.
If that is so, then they are capable of fielding more troops but are too incompetent to defend their own territory or even save the life of their empress with the support of an Avatar class Titan and a ragtag capsuleer militia. If that is the case, then they are likely not an ally deserving of the respect or cooperation of my countrymen.
Alternatively, they fought bravely with all their strength and sustained loses too sever to be able to adequately defend themselves. Neither scenario gives me any confidence.
Quote:Did you know that to this day, the State has not paid back the Amarr? A truly wonderful ally the State was, who never showed up when needed and never repaid debts owed, and now you try to somehow condemn the Amarr? For shame.
I would like to see proof of this. Just because economics aren't reported in detail on mainstream media doesn't mean that these funds have not been returned in full. Given the GDP of a space-faring multi-system government like the Caldari State, I doubt that the economic stimulus of several trillion ISK (barely anything compared to sums exchanged between nations) hasn't returned to the Amarr in one form or the other.
Even if it had been, providing exact figures would be incredibly difficult given the nuances of macroeconomics. The CAESA was not a warbond, it was an economic investment. There is no expectation to pay the amount back in full, that's simply not how it works. Rather, it was given with the understanding that with our economics so intertwined between the Khanid Empire and Lai Dai acting as a major partner in Cartham a stimulus would raise the prosperity of both nations by injecting more capital into the Caldari economy. That money is returned in the form of government spending, increasing aggregate demand, and providing a consistent war economy where industries could flourish.
Before you dare insist that CAESA has anything to do with our current stance with the Amarr Empire, I suggest you actually educate yourself about what you're talking about.
Regretfully, I am approaching my character limit and I am afraid that if I leave too many words here you'll just glance over. Suffice to say, I just don't believe you are seeing the big picture here. Regardless of what you think you know of our understanding of honor, my words were ultimately only ever to press my fellow soldiers into action. They were purely political.
The bottom line, the part that matters, is this. Despite what the Executives may say, I refuse to believe that Jamly is deserving of the admiration or mourning of the Caldari. The Amarr are weak, and the time is now to hold them accountable for their negligence.

I agree, the Matari need to strike now, and strike hard. The Amarr are in a weakened state.
If anything, they should hire some ruthless lead the first wave while they muster their forces together. F*ck I'll volunteer for the first wave, if I get paid enough. Then again, get me drunk enough and I'll volunteer for anything.

Me and ol' Kador have an understanding. At least I think we do.
Besides, who I fight for is just business, nothing more. Sure my business puts me at odds with the Empire. And yeah, I like to liberate slaves from their masters, but if there isn't ISK involved I'm not interested. There are few jobs I do gratis, and those jobs I keep secret.

I honestly can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd gladly fight with you kakku if that meant securing State assets before the situation deteriorates any further. Between Drifter assaults, Sansha Incursions, and attacks by the blood raiders a coordinated strike from immortal mercenaries hired out of Molden Heath would be a rational course of action to soften up ground forces for a Matari invasion. Once slaves have been liberated CONCORD could set about building a new state to defend against these individual outside threats and provide local administration.
Gods and spirits, I wouldn't be that hard to pull off. With all the warlords floating around Molden Heath it would be easy for the Republic to convince more than a few of them to aid in the invasion in exchange for some extra planetary privileges and sovereignty. Between Gallente soldiers, Republic freedom fighters, ex-repatriated and disenfranchised Amarr, and Caldari mercenaries eager to sweep up extra profits this could truly be the unifying force that we need if we hope to bring stability to the region and prepare ourselves for future Drifter attacks.
Not to mention it'd be a damn twist of fate to have the Empress's immortal children to come home to roost. The Amarr gave birth to us soldiers, and I think we owe them a significant turn in kind for introducing us all to this life of unending violence.
Obviously the complete destruction of the Amarr Empire is out of the question, there just would never be a way of dividing the massive amounts of space into split administration between the other three empires. But it's apparent to me that the Amarr government is in need of radical change and a possible partition.
To my friends in the Amarr Empire, please don't take this as having any ill will toward you. In fact, any of my former allies in PIE ought to consider seeing such an event as a potential opportunity to assert their influence in the region provided they are willing to cooperate in some form of coalition.

You think after all the political tension left in the wake of the house of Sarum the Amarr won't fold in on itself the moment rival houses begin to fight for control? Do you even realise that your own government is ripping itself apart anyway? The fact that the Amarr form of government has survived into the modern day at all is absolutely baffling, and it will take nothing short of a Civil War to reform it from the inside.
The Amarr Empire is doomed and it will fall. Maybe not in a month, maybe not in a year, maybe not for another century. But there is simply no chance of it to survive in the form it has taken now. You can either let this decay rot the very foundations of your world, or you can fight to make a change so the next generation won't be left to carry on your sins.

For the longest of times I have been content to allow others to give me a reason to fight, an affirmation that what I was doing was the right thing, though no more. I could recite scripture so as to try to explain why I continue to struggle and fight though my own reasons are far more simple. There is truly something I love in the Empire, a home perhaps and a people.
I never feel more alive than when I am fighting to protect that.
Hope for the Amarr lies in the legacy set down by Empress Jamyl Sarum I and the legacy of her true predecessor Emperor Heideran VII, a continuation of our ways while adopting the harsh lessons we have be taught.

...... well damn..
I've met the empress once, it was probably the only Amarrian Contract I ever took prior to becoming a Clone soldier. She knew my father as well, naming the Se'terra "the Ghost" due to the stealthy nature of my Ship when it under my father's command, back when the Thukker elders launched that crazy incursion.
it was... ahh it was in one of the outer stretches of the empire if i can recall, Sakht system. I was being summoned to her chambers, back then i had more of a business mindset, with a touch of Thukker philosophy. i still remember her asking me if i had time for a cup of tea, and then reassuring me that it wasnt spiked with anything.
she was.... well she was definitely beautiful, i could understand most of my amarrian crew members when they say that she was a very beautiful person. we spent the first part of our meeting just chatting, and then on to the contract.
its funny, she asked about my crew members, and how capable they were, given our unique diversity, and i simply said" the worth of men should not be measured by our status or education, but rather by the dirt on our hands, and the sweat on our brow" she simply nodded and gave a smile...
I have a small room, made as a place of worship, inside the se'terra, mostly for the religious sort in my crew, and what i hadnt told my crew about it was that she gave me a small gift, a golden necklace with a small adornment. i placed it somewhere inside that Room, and i've yet to tell them about it.... not yet anyways.
So although i do not like to meddle in the debates between my people and the amarrians, i can only say that i hope She is given a good place in paradise. |
