Gallente Assault and RR are both good.
Caldari Assault and AR are both terribad.

I know how you feel, I really like to see a suit with the rifle ot its same race and I try to fit them that way, but hey, its a game that allows anyone to fit what they want.

I do well with the Caldari assault too.
Although if I get even a G/1 Medium Frame with the same weapons and EQ, I do 10x better.

why not the combat rifle? because it needs that minmatar clip bonus.
why not the scrambler rifle? because it needs the amarr heat bonus.
The rr and the ar don't need either bonus to be effective, so players choose the one with double the range.

I can only imagine because the rail rifle like I mentioned previously in another thread, seems to be the averaged weapon of choice right now. Couple that with the Gallente armour and its ability to receive reps from both nano hives and repair tools..... it doesn't lose much speed either to have that armour.....
We dont have any sort of shield repair tools or shield nanohives. If this was in EVE and shield transfer was removed - pilots would be crashing the servers, hacking CCP and destroying monuments in the game... I'm not even kidding.

All these scrubs jump on the train because they need crutches to play...*grabs race-fitted caldari assault*
Simply put, the scrambler rifle on an ak.0 assault was a problem, melting through shield suits. People started using the gal assault with a rail rifle because the gal assault has more reps & speed than an ak.0 and the rail rifle has the CQC capabilities of the combat rifle & more range.

What I find odd is that RRs are very popular right now yet armor tanking is also popular. Given the +10% to armor / -10% to shields of rail weapons one would expect that shield users proliferate under these circumstances. 20% less damage should be incentive enough.
Instead we find that people stick to armor.
From my own experience: I do well with a shield based suit until somebody pulls an AScR or ScR. Then I have to switch suits or go home. |

It makes no sense. The bonuses for Gallente suits are for blasters not railguns. They're both hybrids, but blasters are short range, which is what Gallente is all about, all armour and stuff. Caldari are more about long range sniping, using railguns, and shields. It makes no sense to equip a Gallente suit with a railgun. |

You still would be better off in a Caldari suit if you're gonna use railguns. I guess if you want to stick to armour you might make the compromise. |

Yep, same sort of thing in EvE. But one thing the EvE players will never do is use inappropriate weapons for the bonuses on the ship. Same with suits. I think it's strange though, that the railgun or blaster bonuses don't extend to all hybrids. Rails and blasters are virtually the same technology.
Actually, noobs do use the wrong weapons for the bonuses. I guess that might be the case here, for players that are just trying to get the best of everything as fast as possible. |

It would seem so. But with the dispersion bonus it should be the ideal medium-short range weapon to hipfire. I mean on my Caldari suit I still get wrecked by AR's thanks to that shield bonus. And the 10% penalty to armor shouldn't be as annoying as the one from ScR (20%). Idk if I was Gallente I'd use that Burst AR for more range if that's even a problem. |
