Of course you would lol. When I think about it, this is some embarrassing **** on the Amarrian's end. They just swooped in and took out the empress.

That's not exactly fair on the Amarrians. They were transporting the Empress in a titan, the biggest ship in the game, in their own high security region space. It would be akin to driving the president down from the White House to the Pentagon in a mobile bunker.
The Drifters have the tech to basically appear anywhere, at any time, in as many numbers as they want, with tech that far outstrips ours. If their target had been -any- other higher up from any empire they would have met a similar fate.
The fact that they are able to target such high value targets, apparently at their leisure, is what should be so terrifying.
The fact that Concord did not even react should make the empires lose a great deal of trust in them.

The alien ships appeared some hundred kilometers from the titan and fired a short barrage that left the Avatar a crumbling wreck. Empress Jamyl, a known capsuleer, was killed moments later in a follow-up fusillade targeting her pod. The Amarr Navy escort fleet of Aeon-class supercarriers have left the field and according to Amarr senior officials have set course to Amarr where 'their presence is requested". All Amarr forces are reported to be mobilizing to engage any threat present. The Avatar wreckage remains on the field, perhaps showing it will be some sort of monument. TMC will provide continuing coverage of these events as they unfold. UPDATE: News agency The Scope has released a video of the attack, stating 'the condition of Empress Jamyl Sarum remains unknown', but numerous capsuleer witnesses have confirmed first-hand observation of the Empress' capsule being destroyed. UPDATE II: TMC has been provided with the following image of the capsule under fire from the Drifters:

I understand, but it's still embarrassing, albeit not in the "they suck" kinda way. Concord couldn't do anymore than the Amarrians :v. Wonder wtf the Drifters have against the Amarr.

By official request from the highest echelons of Praetorian command I and many other of my comrades have kept our grief in check and out of the public eye. However we are no longer bound in such a manner.
I have little to say at present time however. The nature of the grief I feel at the loss of Her Majesty, Empress Jamyl Sarum I is truly difficult to put to words, it is weight upon my heart that shall not lightly fade despite the passing of time.
In the face of these tragic events the enduring spirit of the Amarr holds firm, a beckoning flame amidst a dark and measureless ocean made darker still by her passing.

Anyway, this is actually surprising, but I won't really believe she's dead until an official CCP lore source says she's definitely dead. She might be using the immortality technique capsuleers use, despite her religion's stance on the subject for its leaders (she could hand-wave the issue and say she was magically transported by a miracle from God). Also, I don't know if they would kill off the only female head of state right now in the lore.
If she is really dead, then I'm guessing someone really awful will take her place to reignite Amarr vs Minmatar conflicts to a new level. I think it would do the game / storyline a lot of good to have the Amarr go on a full blown bloody offensive conquest of the Galaxy. They are traditionally saw as the "bad guys" (no doubt an Amarr PR agent will be along shortly to contest that....) and I'm sure people would love to have something epic kick off.
