Not see an issue with myofibs but rather with 700+ hp armor tankers having the best mobility for 1v1. Just seems so wrong for armor tanking "philosophy". Shouldn't jumping be a shield tanking thing? |

Wtf are you even talking about? Most modules in eve and some in dust come with a drawback as part of a balancing scheme. Are you suggesting that I thought it would be a good idea to have a penalty shoot out... Uhh like soccer or hockey...?

Armor tanking has always been superior to anything.
They cap speed, neutered EWAR, shields are inferior etc. I wish there was more incentive and efficacy in other play styles but armor tanking has been and will continue to be superior to all others.

That nerf it to the ground is a major problem by itself. Doing that is a temporary solution. It's not that simple and CCP should seriously know better by now then to listen and do that. You do know how close you have to get to melee someone right? And even though the melee hit detection is better it still doesn't register sometimes, so even if you get the drop if you're melee doesn't register you're screwed.
I find that the melee mod shouldn't affect jump height at all, it just doesn't make sense to me. Have the kinetics mod affect jump height, cardiacs stay the same, and melee mods after melee & maybe nova knife damage. There is nothing wrong with melee damage IMHO, just that the wrong bonus applies [jump height.]
Switch around the bonuses for biotics and leave the melee damage alone i think it'll be better balanced.

To answer you're question OP i have a theory about plates vs mobility. I don't think it should be much, just that if you're using armor plates it should weigh you down more. That's why heavies are so slow, there could be a slight penalty to jump height so it would be
brick tank = weight vs mobility penalty from said weight
more brick = more weight = lower strafe/jump mobility
I suck at math and haven't included the override of using biotics the counter mobility penalty but i think for now my point is seen.

Had an idea once that armor plates should substantially reduce jump height. This would fix the 700HP uparmored Mario Bro.

What if we moved Myofibs to lows with the other Biotics? * The heavily armored Mario Bro is no more. That's good. * Shield Tankers would have a new option. That's good. * Straight Biotic Builds already can't compete. Aren't exactly losing ground here. Thoughts?
Yeah id be on board with them being a low slot however we don't really have enough high slot versatility as is, and like you said it would end all biotic fits which I personally think are kinda fun (even before myofibs were changed).
I was thinking instead...
* greatly increase cpu costs of myofibs. Armor tankers are cpu limited in general and this would force them to sacrifice their tank for cpu mods, as well as making myofibs more for cpu suits like caldari and minmatar
* add a penalty to myofibs that directly penalises armor tanking. Something like a reduction in armor amount maybe.
* add a penalty to all armor plate mods (reactive, ferro, and regular) which reduces the jump efficiency of myofibs
Thoughts?

Ive been suggesting a penalty on myofibrils to stamina usage when jumping and using mellee, to make jumps and mellee less spammable in combat situations, but which would preserve the main thrust of the myofibril: ability to jump onto crates and junk for a positional advantage. |

No need for additional penalties or drawbacks; make high hitpoint mario bros, dual tankers and armor+DPS loadouts less practical through fitting restrictions. Knocking armor down a notch is a sure-fire way to bring armor-v-shield interplay closer to balance.
Thoughts?

Knocking armor down a notch is a sure-fire way to shake up the meta and bring armor-v-shield interplay closer to balance; lots of birds, one nerf. Thoughts? Why not just buff shields and shield modules before nerfing anything? Reduce regen delay by a second or two, reduce the cpu cost of shield modules and maybe ramp up their hp given. Or perhaps introduce a new shield module that's much like a Ferroscale? Reduced hp bonus compared to extenders but no regen penalty

@ Georgia Just wrote up my thoughts on the subject a few hours ago in the "buff shields" thread on page 1 of the ideas/feedback section. In short, I'm of the opinion that buffing shields would be worse for overall game balance than nerfing armor. I'd link for you, but I'm on the road ATM.
