Here at CCP we only played 5th edition, once, but we're planning to get back to that.
I first started playing M.A.G.U.S. which is basically a Hungarian clone of D&D, but then - among other RPGs - we tried the 3rd Edition, which was fun. Later on we wanted to try AD&D and the classic first edition D&D, but we only ever got through the character creation phase, never really tried them unfortunately. After that we just upgraded with the actual versions - 4th edition was, and still is my favorite, mostly because of the at-will/encounter/daily powers, and because all character classes seemed to be more fun to play and more versatile using these. Finally all characters had these cool moves and abilities! Fighters would be able to do more than just "hit the big guy with my sword" 4 times in a row
My favorite race...that's a difficult question. I enjoyed playing a Tiefling Warlord, and really liked the Warforged, but I never got to play one. Dragonborn as well, I find their honor code etc. fascinating.
Favorite class - I'd say warlock I think, but single class fighters can be awesome too.
Favorite spell - any type of teleport!
Favorite creature - I have to pass on this one. Goblins are amazing in some settings
Favorite setting has got to be forgotten realms.
One of the best long-term games I ever played was 4th Edition D&D with Synerille /Syn/ the elf Warlock, devout follower of the Winter Queen /made up elven goddess of death, winter and frost, showing the world that death was not evil, but neutral, and can be beautiful/, who specialized in powers that would allow him to deal cold damage and to teleport short distances. His fighting style was ridiculous/ly awesome/, and he was the sole survivor of the party when they all got captured and beat up by slavers.
In the 5th edition - so far - I tried playing an elf cleric, and will most likely go on to a human bard for the next game. Should be fun
