Well there were some semi official stuff about the PS3 being phased out some time soon. At first it was the end of the year December, then it moved to some time in 2016. Which could mean anything from they stop making new games for the PS3, to no more sold in stores etc. I've also heard the PlayStation store will stop supporting the PS3, but at this point it seems like it would be stupid. After all far more people have a PS3 than PS4 and still buy tons of stuff off PSN.
Not just games, but also movies and the like.

its sonys ps3 updates that end in december, there online services will continue for a while, any quote from CCP you can get from March's fanfest and its on googles first search page when you search dust, it goes something like _
'dust will continue on ps3 until ps3 services stop which could be a few years from now'
theres still a lot of people who use ps3 online, like ps2 i doubt there in any rush to discontinue their online services just because of the release of ps4, dont get me wrong it wont go on forever and there is a timer ticking down to when sony will pull the plug, but that day is not coming anytime soon

By the time Sony shuts off online support for the PS3, DUST will already be ported to the PS4.
That's the only logical step.

The real issue is of course even if DUST does continue onto PS4, will it be a true port with characters and such carrying over? Or just a completely new sequel to the game where everyone has to start over? Both have their merits. Obviously long time players would love to keep their characters and achievements. On other hand taking existing code and information from this rather broken game would hurt any newer versions imo. Add to that new players trying to get starter would have to face several year vets with specialized gear and equipment they earned threw special events, mailing list etc.
Plus I just feel if they haven't even announced really working on a port yet by the time they get done the PS5 will be out. If CCP doesn't want to have jump systems every 5 or so years they probably should just move DUST to PC imo. I love console gaming and all but for long term game plans it kind of stinks.
