A PC pretending to be a console with half the memory of a PS4/XboxOne but at the same price? Where's the #PCMASTERRACE now? |

When you are buying Alienware you are basically paying a premium for not being able to build your own damn machine, despite how easy it is. In short, Alienware is for console players
I doubt any console player would buy something with half of the memory their console has for the same price :/

Well, if you don't want to build a hackintosh, that's the only option you have if you want to use a real OS. |

When you are buying a Mac you are paying for all your college-age friends to think you are cool and/or because you have MASSIVE amounts of money and very little sense. I bought a Mac because I was tired of my PC breaking every six months. First a hard drive failed on my PC, then the graphics card melted. I replaced it with a Mac 5 years ago and have never had any problems with it. It still runs EVE fine. ... And during our long cold Canadian winters it keeps my computer room toasty warm.
I bought an iMac five years ago, and the only problem I ever had was the DVD Drive: it never froze, never crashed, never rebooted for no reasons.
Now I'm planning to build a "Hackintosh" Pro (saving more than 1000 Gé¼) and since I unfortunately also need Windows I'll add another SSD with Win on it. MacOs is so superior that I still can't believe why people are still using Windows... |

Sequal's Back wrote:xxwhitedevilxx M wrote:MacOs is so superior that I still can't believe people are still using Windows... You know nothing about OS and computers in general right?? MacOS is made for people who wants to use their computer as a phone. It's all locked everywhere so you can't customize it as you want. Great to surf on the internet and for social medias, but for everything else, it has nothing more than windows. On your "memory argument", a good 8Go GSkill or Corsair RAM is MUCH BETTER than some cheap 16Go RAM. You have to look precisely at the brands used and the carac of each components if you really want to compare a PC with a console. THEN, they don't serve the same purpose. It's completely stupid to compare a pc and a console.
This is a yes and no answer:
I can only speak based on personal experience with both Windows and Mac and for what I do ( 3d art, Sound Design/Music, Stupid Games Design and all the other little thing you do with a computer), Mac is way better. Can't understand the customization point, I always did pretty much everything I needed to do on Mac, except gaming: I use a console for that.
Just to be precise, although what you say is completely fine, the RAM in a computer and the one in a console are different. Not because they are physically different but because they're used in a very different way.
I'll make it easy to understand: back when PS3 and PC gaming was on par (performance and look), you needed at least 2-4, gigs of RAM on your PC, while the PS3 only has 512 M, how would you explain that? That Alienware thing (the one that costs around 500$) is going nowhere against current-gen consoles simply because it's a PC with 4 gigs of ram, not a dedicated game-machine.
And, right, the real problem is they don't serve the same purpose. You can build a much better PC for that price, better than a console, probably, but still both of the Alienware things are absolutely not worth the price, whether you compare them to a console or a PC . |

Mac: authoritarian, you have 'your own life' that is exactly like everyone else making 'choices' that are nothing more than smoke and mirror tricks to keep you happy
Windows: republic/corporatism, commerce and trade are huge, but so is big money and corruption is just stupid high. If you can make it work, youll be set, if not...good luck.
Linux: you are a mountain man, no one bothers you, nor would they cause youll shoot them dead far outside their range. Total and complete freedom. Until something breaks (like a leg, or in the os a kernel) and you're completely effed.
I seriously laughed out loud at the mountain man part. |

Still, Windows PC are much better when it comes to gaming. It's simply up to you, based on what you want to do with that computer. |

With a console I only payed $400 once and that was 6 years ago I paid $800 for my rig 6 years ago that still roles at 2x the specs of the current generation. Just like life, if you know what you're doing, zit works out pretty damn well.
You're both right imo. At this point is a personal choice: I also prefer consoles for what concerns gaming even tho I'm concious that I'mnot having the same quality I might have with a PC. |

That statement gave the even me who isn't all the way for PC master race(because he plays dust and ps4 and xbox360) cancer. Only good thing about a Mac is the frilly brand name(I lied) and the shiny things you can make on em(like graphics and music) Other than that. Mac just sucks for me. And who the hell designed the mouse and keyboard for that thing(the mouse just looks like sp3rm and that's creepy, the keybaord was super thin and cramped my fingers) I'd rather have the flexible windows pc. At least I can understand how to work it. And fix it.(when I fuxk it up somehow) And fine tune it. And not have to download software to get my ANDROID phone to mass move all the files and stuff I need for random things. And not have to pay stupid prices for repairs or just buying the computer. I mean the iphones.... Come on.... They just get more pathetic by the number. It's all a matter of choice. Just saying.
Well, yeah, I was talking about MacOS, not Apple frenchise in general.... |
