I'm not talking about snipers in general, I don't have anything against them. I'm talking about the ones that sit inside the Red Line with their Proto Dropsuit that they rarely ever lose, because they are nearly impossible to kill without a counter sniper.
I've been around DUST for 3 years. I'm not new to this. I've got experience. I've been there, and done all of that.
Here's what I have to say. * Snipers behind the Red Line receive a 60-70% damage penalty and no Headshot multiplier. Players would be notified when behind the Red Line.
* Extend the time for enemies in the Red Line by ~20 seconds. I've many times been merely seconds away from ending a sniper's 20-0 streak.
* Add a more noticeable trail to snipers that linger for longer times. Or at least give away the player's position upon death.
* Don't a straight line of sight from the red line to ANY objectives. Seriously, CCP? Allow someone to block a hack/counterhack from 500m away?
Red Line sniping, in my own personal opinion, is a minimal risk / high reward gameplay style with little to no counters.
Call it a sniper qq thread or whatever the hell you want, but I honestly feel this is an issue.

Then I guess you never encountered a Thales 50/0 sitting in a Red Line. The maps are REALLY big when considering Skirm and Dom. I've had to use Scout fittings to run around the red line, then suicide by going into it and killing a sniper. It takes a long time. |

Yes, people still do that. And no, you don't need to stand still for them to hit you with their 400hp Tahles round. |

Genral69 death wrote:I disagree with everything you have mentioned . Snipers in the red line: If you haven't noticed ALOT of high sniping positions are placed in the redline. Why exactly would a sniper want would a sniper want to get close to the reds? If you cannot get to them as a scout, change your tactic.
Increasing the redline timer This is the most stupid idea ever. As spawn camping in the redline will become an even bigger problem.
Sniper trail There is already a sniper trail, you just need to be quick enough to pick it up. Also the fact that when the sniper hits you its your you his direction . Which will give you his location so why do you want it when you get killed ?
High rewards? As a sniper your lucky of you get more than 180k isk
Just another pointless thread about snipers
Red Line buildings They are meant for cover, not for sitting behind while both teams are out actually playing the objective.
Time Extenion The Red Line time extension was just a suggestion, almighty and all-knowing Sir. keyboard warrior of the Rectangular Table.
Trails Sorry for not being on 24/7 alert for sniper trails , or for looking around behind my back while I collapse from a 1 shot.
High Rewards High rewards? As a sniper you're basically replacing your fitting every 10 matches. AKA BARELY ANY fitting costs.
Also, why should I be forced to counter something in only one way? If they are 50m-100m deep, NOTHING other than other snipers will actually be effective.
Just another pointless post about defending cowardice.

rizan baig wrote:I don't mind snipers in the red line cuz I can easily pick them off however I really don't like the guys that get a sentinel ak.0 with 1000 armor so that they can't be killed. I you shoot to kill at most your shot will only warn them that someone is trying to kill them so they'll run off never to be seen or heard from again (till they regen armor and come back)
I main Sentinel, and trust me, all of that armor comes at a HUGE cost in mobility and effective range.
Sentinels are very niche, due to the fact that they have extremely limited effectiveness. Go beyond the range of a SMG, and almost any other fittings can just headshot your fat buttocks. Yes, we are huge beasts, with a Logi. Yes, a potato DOES in fact out-damage us beyond ~30m.
Also, consider smacking one upside the head with a Plasma Cannon or Remote Explosives, it's fun for the whole family |

Mejt0 wrote:Bad ideas. All high grounds are inside redline. You can counter snipe every Sniper in any location. You just need to know where they are and from where can you shoot them.
After 3 years you should know every place you can snipe from. You get hit mark, you know exactly where he/she is.
Not all of the higher grounds are located in the redline, but you make a valid point, as most are redlined.
However, when a Sniper shoots you, you can't really whip around, ditch your squad, grab a counter fit, then attempt to kill the said Sniper. It's not practical whatsoever, and it forces people to play very specific roles JUST to counter them.
Also, most of the redliners have greater than 50 brain cells, and can relocate across a whole 300m redline, and even head glitch to be barely visible. |

Mejt0 wrote: Oh really? So.. you can't pick up conter fit because that will hurt your squad?
First off, squad has no meaning. Team has. Secondly, when something is a threat to your team you counter it. When a Blaster Tank moves through your team, you bring AV or say "it's not practical because he/she will escape"? When Sniper is covering hack pad you counter snipe it or say "Seems like we have to abandon this point"?
Yeah really. I cannot stop providing assistance to the frontline just so I can pick off a prick hiding behind a redline. It hurts my team more than it helps.
Squads do have a meaning silly. They're not like some third team, they are LITERALLY part of your TEAM. Secondly, you are correct. You should should assist your team in any way possible, and counter sniping, sadly, is a thing.
It's extremely impractical, as you first have to pinpoint (and keep track of) someone who is most likely only showing a minuscule part of their body. Not only that, you also risk losing an important person in your team, whether it be a Logi, Assault, AV, Senti, and so forth.
Comparing AV to Counter Sniper might be one of the most intellectually low comparisons in DUST. "Why so?", you ask? Well, unlike a Counter Sniper, an AV unit will still be on the frontline, able to support teams with equipment, sidearms fire, plasma cannon area denial, and, most obviously, vehicular denial. Counter Snipers on the other part, are far too busy searching the redline for an ant sized target, and can no longer support a team.
Also, my dear and not-so-savvy friend, I've never met someone that ever dropped an objective just because of a sniper. It almost always ended with someone spending ~40% of the entire match just SEARCHING for the sniper while avoiding resistance from the redline.
Sorry if I come off as rude, but I'm tired and a bit cranky |

Hey f u c ktard. Ever heard of redline stomp. Think about that. Apply all of that to those in the redline. Add a timer that kill everybody in the redline if they stay there for 1 minute. Destroy everyone and everything in the redline including the mcc. For f u c king fu ck sakes. F U C K Y O U!!!!!!!!
Well, ain't that a cute little internet troll, or maybe just a defective clone. I mean, those were just my opinions, man. Chill yourself. (Most) of my ideas only affected redline SNIPERS, perhaps one of the worst ways to stop a stomp. And yes, I've been a victim/part of a redline stomp MANY times, but you only seem to be a victim., and it's because of the matchmaking system.

Sicerly Yaw wrote:for one of your points all you have to do is use a caldari heavy stack shiled mods and hack away while crouching and moving back and forth
as for counter sniping they easily give away their position if they hit you and you live, as well as being fairly easy to spot beyond their max range, so all you have to do is get far away in a high spot find then then get into a position where you can kill them and make sure you get a head shot with something that will kill them such as a charged sniper rifle with stacked light damge mods
and even after the range nerf cowards still use the sniper rifle to hide in the redline I doubt that will change
I've tried stacking with both shields and armor, but it's near impossible when there are 2-3 snipers, and same kind of goes for the surviving one shot. Lately, I've been using light dropsuits, which are melted by Thales when not using stack shields/armor. As for the other points, they do makes sense, but sometimes a headshot is just not enough for a Sentinel suit with extreme eHP. Either It's not killing, or I'm not exactly hitting the headshot.
A damage nerf won't get rid of redliners, but it would certainly do something about them. |
