Were they armor and you shields, or both the same? Either way the collision damage in this game is borked.

shields are known for being weaker then armor in general terms but especially when it comes to collision, if you want to test this out use an amarr medium frame and a caldari medium frame
jump off of a high structure regular building height should be enough, with the shiled suit simply jump off and see how much damge you took, for the armor suit hold a flux till it detonates then jump and calculate the difference between the damge you took to armor and the damge you took to shields
as for what you said about being rammed with a DS, armor DS will always win a ramming contest at least in most cases with a few exceptions if you know how to deal with it

Sadly, even if this is low when it comes to dropships fighting, it is still a valid tactic since it can be done. Still, I wish people wouldnt do this just because they are loosing the fight. |

I have a feeling this guy was the earlier ADS I was fighting, I was about to kill him, but he withdrew(He ran away like a little ***** after initiating the fight in the first place, I just kept wailing on him with my Missiles) I was distracted killing his team when all of a sudden boom I get rammed by a DS and I go down hard. Died with my ship... But its a serious pain when a mlt can do this, not even showing up on my mini map until he hit me.

You've really gotta have a strong spidey sense and eyes in the back of your head to avoid getting rammed while dropshiping, as long as you see them coming you'll generally be fine.
On the flipside there are times I can morally justify ramming someone, sometimes its unavoidable in a dogfight, both pilots get so absorbed in shooting each other and staying on top of the target that it just ends up happening. And then theres what i call fancy fliers, who will flop and swing about spending 90% of their time being fancy instead of fighting, then run away the moment they take more than a few shots in a row. Those pilots I will ram with glee, because anyone that will only shoot at you while your back is turned is so risk adverse that they need to be punished harshly.

The only time to back down from a fight is to go back to your supply depot to get more ammo, also pilots aren't really prone to accidentally ramming each other...

Sounds like you haven't gotten into too many intense dogfights if you haven't accidentally bumped against the other pilot. Also the other time to back down is anytime you're using missiles and they're using rails, because if they're even half as good as you they're gonna win that fight every single time.

Really? I've been in a couple and the only ones that the ADSer rammed me was pretty much when they were about to die, they put those afterburners and just fly towards me..

Like something out of a video game/Movie. If only small blasters on ADS' actually worked, we could have those helicopter gunner scenes and the lav just barely dodging it. Then get like a background explosion like "BWAAAAHHH!"

In the meantime though you'll learn to see the dropship body language, when someone is gunna ram you they tend to telegraph the intent, dodge em, reload as you come about and nail them. If you aren't already I highly suggest leveling up the incubus and getting into rails, great for slaying ADS pilots who can only use missiles.

That's actually one of the better evasive maneuvers if you can judge their trajectory cuz if you can move up on them fast but just miss them you'll over shoot them, gain the height advantage, and you'll be out of their LoS long enough for a full repair in most cases. But that same maneuver can easily wind up with both ships exploding.

Evasive maneuver? I do nothing but barrel rolls, backflips, and aerobatics. This works better and doesn't result in accidental rams.

Almost 100% win rate in Dogfights. Only losses was when an ADS had extra gunners and another time when I ran out of ammo in the middle of a fight

Are you flying a python? cause yeah those will get love bumps from any incubus they get too close to, thats not so much getting rammed, its more akin to getting sand kicked in your face in a duel its not very honourable but you use the tools you have available in a scrap.

Its really unpredictable won't will and won't kill an ADS collision wise, I clipped a light pole the other day and flopped upside down onto a roof top, the momentum caused me to roll sideways off the side of the building and land on my landing gear on the road. Grinned thinking "more ass than class" hit the AB and boosted straight up, another dropship just happened to fly over me as I took off really fast, he survived and the impact did no damage to me, didn't get lucky again and the next building I hit killed me.

No I was winning a fight, he retreated. Moments later I get full forced rammed. People have no class
Also suicide anything should only be used by LAVs, or regular DS, but for a person who sunk a similar amount of sp into ADS, to use a cheap tactic. Very low class

Clearly you don't engage strong AV if you think a single hardener = no problems lmfao. You're going to spend a large amount of time at flight ceiling or the edges of the battle waiting to come off of cooldown, and even during your cycle you can easily be alpha'd if you do anything but immediately run. Double hardener allows you to eat a couple shots before having to run, but you're a paper airplane covered in gas when the hardener isn't active, and now that hardeners take a few seconds to activate, that's very bad vs invisible swarms.
So if you never really engage the enemy and hang out way up in the sky the entire match, then yes, you might have some decent suitability. If you actually try to get down and put in some work though, you're going to find your window shorter than it seems and your downtime longer than you expect.
