So I was just looking at the logistic role descriptions and mainly looked at the caldari one, since I had a choice to buy an lp apex today I was deciding between the assault and the logi, and went with the assault. well that isn't important, what is important is the logi role itself, all of the logi descriptions have two of three paragraphs that match each other, the third describes the race of the suit itself. so I have the two shared descriptions here.
1. The Logistics dropsuit is outfitted with the latest in integrated diagnostic technology, most of which revolves around maintaining the condition and efficiency of squad mates and their equipment. As such, a soldier equipped with this class of dropsuit becomes a force multiplier, greatly improving the overall effectiveness of the Unit.
2. When deployed, a soldier equipped with a Logistics suit fills a vital tactical role in small unit operations and full-scale warfare, providing both, medical and mechanical support.
If you take the time to read the racial logistic role descriptions, you will notice that some the descriptions mention 'farther range' aid, like the caldari description, I got that the caldari logi suit is supposed to have a type of AoE support directly from suit, limiting equipment, while the minmatar is obviously focused equipment but is meant to have a good scanner par the description.
Here's my idea - Implement a new equipment type, the "AoE" slot, taking slots where the H/L or equipment would be, providing Area of effect bonuses to all units within this radius, and these AoE slots can only be equipped on logistic suits. these slots would get specific bonuses from the logistic suit skill focused on what that faction usually focuses on anyways. these slots would take up some of the equipment bandwidth (Consider removing the 'equipment' part from that) the more the lagi helps out, the more passive points he gains, maybe lower the actual H/L slots to prevent killer logis (I see too many) Oh, these modules would affect friendlies but not the wearer, to prevent a type of exploit that might come out of this, note that this only an idea. feel free to discuss. |

would it not be easier just to tweak stats or logi bonuses? seems like ur overcomplicating by adding slots and modules n stuff.

While segregated slot options are the easiest way to make directly unique classes... This game's core ideology is to allow a wide range of equipment use. As in... cloaking units can be used by any class etc.
However... this homogenization can cause crossover problems with the classes. It's not impossible for them to diverge, but it may take a bit more forceful approach than what we currently have.
The problem with that... again is that forceful changes tend up making new holes in the modules, and then setups may have to change so that certain modules just don't work as strongly with certain classes, in order to make them fit. What I mean is their effective level, not the amount of resources required to equip, like a scout levels and cloaking module.
If you give one class much stronger attack modules, and another much stronger defense modules... they tend to homogenize again.
It's basically.... Easy to balance vs Core Ideals

I support this being a non slotted race specific bonus to logis, if they decide not to implement the commander suit, and should apply directly to each races combat or support philosophy. I:e nanites or shields or rails for Cal, Armor or laser or uplink for Amar, Explosive /projectile or speed or rep tools for min, armor rep or plasma or scans fo4 Gal. This would promote racial synergy, and suit variation per type. Making the game more like 3ve and so4t of abandoning the mercenary doctrine of DUST but would make it much more stringent imo.

We have this to a certain extent with e-war modules. Equip them and buff your squads ability to see enemy units. Although I personally prefer active scanning to passive. In fact overall I'm pretty comfortable with the way we buff out team being an active one rather then passive.
