Interesting topic indeed!
Honestly I feel we do need vehicles in this game, it keeps it more interesting and they are very useful in certain situations. I don't understand where all these mercs are coming up with the idea that TANKS ARE TERRORIZING the battle and need to be removed, toned down etc...
I've been dedicated AV, forever and I feel that it is almost too easy to pop a tank. Two years ago we didn't have commandos with swarms, PLCS, and Assault HMGS everywhere. It is also getting to the point where people have enough sp to skill into the proficiency AV level.
Also have to take into consideration that there are skilled tankers (a rare breed) and people that just drive tanks. A skilled tanker can terrorize an enemy team quite effectively, it does happen but it's really such a rare occasion that I don't feel its worth complaining about.
People need to understand how tanks can be useful. I certainly don't drive em but I have some friends that do, and when they bring em out it can be quite fun gunning and capturing points with a tank by your side. They provide cover fire, & help push into conjested areas, scattering out the redberries. Vehicle scans are an asset as well.
Hell even tank vs tank battles are fun! Sometimes just rolling around in your friends vehicle looking for other tanks to kill does a great service to your team.
If anything we need more variety in the vehicle department, different types of turrets, modules, racial tanks etc.

2. Tanks are supposed to be a force multiplier (and rightly so) something is wrong when a player is this dominant in a 3-man vehicle -- A tank driver should theoretically be at a *huge* disadvantage going solo, especially since there are "solo" tanks available now...I'd propose giving the main turret a nerf while giving huge buffs to the small support turrets, along with full 360-degree turn authority. It should take at least TWO people minimum for a tank to truly be effective...
Simpler, alternate proposals -- Only one active module can be used at any given time, OR make active modules start slow, build up to full power, and gradually taper off, OR at the bare minimum for the love of god just lose the fuel injector...
I kind of disagree with this, tanks are already dependant on the rest of their team. For instance, if your friendly blueberries are not capable enough to shoot the AV infantry, then the tank isn't going to get very far. Sure you could always pull out one or two more but what is the point if you aren't going to accomplish anything.
Nerfing the main turrent isn't exactly fair either, tanks do encounter other tanks and need to defend themselves. Not everyone enjoys having blueberries in their tank. Not to mention the main turret, also comes in handy for taking out blaster, missle, and rail installations. Nobody wants to sit around forever, spending lots of ammo trying to take those things out.
Sure you could leave the installations be, but they become a HUGE nuisance when they are hacked for infantry and vehicle pilots.
Removing and limiting modules wouldn't be fun either, there needs to be more diversity among vehicles, otherwise everyone would have the same boring fit.
