That is mere speculation. The Imperial Navy has for many year required updating. Perhaps this is the start of a more advanced Fleet designed to protect the Empire and the wider cluster as a whole from emergent threats like the Drifters.

Having been present aboard one of the attending PIE Inc Abaddon's I can vouch for the fact that Raish and his crew were warned to cease scanning the Avatar class Titan and retreat to a safe distance of 100km several times before his vessel was destroyed, more over it was clear that there was a series of private communications exchanged between himself and the Empress that we were not privy to.
His use of the Entosis Module in such a unique fashion likely led Her Grace to label him as a potential threat to the security of the Empire. From that moment there was little that could be done as dozens of capsuleers descended upon his vessel.
Captain Aldrith Shutaq was rather proud of his scoring the final blow on the hostile ship.

I wonder if/when the President Jacus Roden will announce a new BS variant of the Hyperion. I've always loved that model, and hated that it only has one option, (Though it is a damned fine ship in its own right).

It's about time. The Imperial Navy is very asymmetrically updated. For the Empire's sake they should try to improve their more common ships as well. The last Drifter attack has definitely exposed their ancient engineering failing to keep up with modern times.
That said, the Federation is in a similar position. Though, hopefully Jacus Roden is formulating an update on the entire Federal military.
The State seem to be the only ones who are anywhere close to combating the Drifters. The Republic is lucky most of its ships are used to dealing with unfavorable odds.

Not all of them are, though. The Stabber and Vagabond put one in mind of old Asian sailing vessels and spears at the same time. Very deadly and beautiful.
