SO, My original thread about the DUST fixes got quite a bit of heat from people smarter than me, note that those were merely ideas and pure guesses in that topic and I am not the smartest person playing this game by far, so I am making a thread on the possible port to PS4 - I don't wan't it to be another one of those really stupid 'port it to PS4' threads you'll see pop up every so often but I won't say straight up 'port it' these are suggestions, facts and opinions. list form.
1. Porting (Now) is technically impossible, and the PS3 only agreement CCP has will be ending later this year (The exact date is somewhere in the forums) so afterwards it will be possible for a port.
2. CCP has VR & UE4 experience but it is unconfirmed what exactly all they have covered in UE4, the VR aspect is certain. UE4 is supposed to be easier to use from what I hear and has many more possibilities within it, I am pretty sure it would run DUST smoother, but I have no experience, and have not seen game-play (Of any sort) on UE4.
3. The old coding the original DUST coders put there is a massive mess, old versions of DUST had it, and it still has it, and that is the majority cause of frame-rate drops, the auto cache clearer I suggested in my other thread would take quite a bit of coding itself to implement and would only be a slight frame rate fixer, in particularly laggy maps there would still be frame drops and rubber banding, so it is almost mandatory for DUST to be reconstructed from the ground up, say LEGION (The YouTube video I saw at least) I hope uses its own base code. Sure using the old DUST code would be easy but.... ******** beyond measure.
4. in the reworking of all that old code, visual effects and the MCC could be redone as well, basically the little things that aren't getting much attention but should can get it's proper coding and visual effects.
5. Why PS4 and not PC? well it's pretty simple, PS4 is filled with actual gamers and advertisements will be seen not based on what you look at but rather just put onto somebody's TV screen in multiple places, dramatically raising the player base to games much like defiance or planetside 2, DUST falls into a very unique category for being a shooter, it is generally unique while in fact it is not, but it seems like it.
just some suggestions and facts. feel free to discuss, I hope I get less bad comments here because I did not have too much backing behind my last OP and was called out on it, and I understand why. feel free to comment here though. |
