I have not put in countless hours like some of the other players, however the time I have spent has provided me with a range of emotional experiences.
Joy - usually when I manage to blow stuff up or actually get a kill or two (seems to be less and less common for me however as I believe I am being out skill pointed by everybody else). Other times are when I actually manage to get with a couple of guys who have a mic and we are able to coordinate an attack or defense. These battles are fun, win or lose because you feel like you are part of a team and involved in something.
Frustration - every time I spawn and within about 1.5 seconds I have to hit the respawn button because something has killed me. don't know what it was but it always hits from behind me or out of my field of view before I can even attempt to turn around. Countless isk lost in dropsuits with that. Also, I have invested skills in my weapons etc and use mostly the burst assault rifle. What really sucks is emptying a magazine into somebody's back, they turn and kill you with a single shot as you reload, while trying to duck into some cover.
Boredom - I play Eve online, I do not run missions very often because they bore me to tears. Right now, dust for me is like running the same mission over and over and over and over and over and over until the machine locks up and I go and do something else with my time.
The good points are that the graphics are better than SWTOR or WOW. The potential for epic battles is there, provided you can actually communicate with your team BEFORE you get dropped into a fight.
I will now be waiting for an email from CCP telling me there has been an update before logging in again. I realize this is early beta testing, and there is very limited content, I cannot see myself playing more than 3 or 4 battles before logging off.
My fear is that part time players who spend less than 2 hours gaming a week, will never be able to do anything useful in game.
Keep up the work CCP, this is not yet at the level of EVE but you are headed in the right direction... I think

Only been here a few days but I get what your saying, I was hopeing for some deep tactical play and was a bit taken aback by my first match.
But no doubt as others will point it's beta and still early days and lots of things have yet to be implemented . I just don't want or need another run and gun shooter there are enough of those out there. |

Greetings,
karl gin wrote:Joy - usually when I manage to blow stuff up or actually get a kill or two (seems to be less and less common for me however as I believe I am being out skill pointed by everybody else). Not to be difficult, but do you think it could actually be a lack of player skill? I ask this in all honesty and sincerity. I also speak from experience. This is a FPS whereas EVE is a strategic space game... Worlds of difference
I am finding that SP has very little affect, but player skill has a lot of affect. I am running about .400 K/D right now, but the vast majority of my kills are using militia assault rifles and wearing militia scout suit.

Countless isk lost in dropsuits with that. This happens occasionally, but I find more often that it is player error. Firing SL at my feet, throwing a grenade at a wall. Spawning into a camped site, etc.
I have burned through about 3M ISK before I decided to start learning the game mechanics. Once I did that I find that I make between 40K - 110K per match and spend only around 50K... That means I am only losing money on those matches where I earn less that 50K.
Additionally, I have also invested in my weapon skills and found that like it in EVE, if I can't kill them with militia weapons, I can't kill them with prototype weapons... Why, because my player skills are below the 50 percent mark.

Hitboxes are being addressed with the June 29th patch, as are the hard freezes, and I think that it also marks the beginning of corporations (purely speculation) |

I agree that my skills in this style of gaming generally suck. However I also play MW3 and find that my survival/kill ratio is much better. Not to mention the game is much more fun.
That being said, this is EARLY beta so CCP is testing the basics out before fleshing out the game. |
