tl;dr at the bottom.
Now I know there's a whole board dedicated specifically to corps, but, I don't know. Getting the representative speech is like getting a pre-recorded message. Someone I don't know telling me things I want to hear that may or may not be true, or at the very least exaggerated. I'd like to hear actual recommendations from you guys.
Most of you already know, but, for those of you that don't, Gaston was biomassed and recreated recently so he's currently got less than a million SP, which means no proper gear to speak of and no skills leveled to make what gear I've got useful. I've purchased a few APEX to make use of in the meantime, so I've got at least that going for me. If you're willing to work with me, hopefully I'll become a valuable asset to the team.
I've got a headset and mic that doesn't seem to like the PS3 but works for everything else. I suffer from a bit of social anxiety and sometimes stammer or trip over my speech when I'm nervous or thinking faster than I'm talking, and of course butchering the words just makes it worse and the cycle goes on, so I don't speak a whole lot. I'll try to talk, but it won't happen too often until I feel comfortable with the group I'm supposed to be talking to. Don't worry about needing to 'ease' me into anything. Just be yourselves and I'll be myself and things will go much more smoothly. Preferring to be quiet doesn't mean I won't communicate at all, though. Simple, short responses like 'roger', 'will do', or warning the squad about something will probably be pretty common. Figured that'd all be slightly important to know since communication is a big part of being in a community, after all.
For those of you who care about the numbers, my K/DR is 0.65 currently, but that's with newb gear and no SP going up against the same proto wielders my old main did, so I imagine the number will go up as I get my SP back, moreso if I've got teammates I can communicate with and rely on. I don't normally enjoy slayer roles, though, so while the number will increase, it won't be by much. I prefer being a logi, hacker, or forge gun AV support and am getting decent at forge gun sniping.
I also enjoy FW, so if your corp is involved in that to any degree, that's a plus. I usually roll with Minmatar and Gallente, though, so will probably stay out of Caldari and Amarr FW if that's your thing.
As for personal attitude, I'm generally quiet and laid back so you won't hear many angry outbursts from me, though occasional mutterings of 'f*ck your couch' and 'dammit' will be a thing. I can be a bit headstrong and will occasionally forget that I'm usually using suits made of paper, ending up getting killed trying to suppress oncoming reds. I never back out of battles or hide in the redline if I can avoid it.
I feel like I'd be decent at following orders. It seems like heeding someone saying 'watch out for this', 'go do this', 'cover this area' and such is fairly easy. I could be an idiot, though, so who knows. I won't generally argue an order unless I really, seriously think it's a bad idea, but even as I'm saying I don't want to do it I'll still be in the process of doing it until told otherwise. Please don't be too upset with me if it takes a while for me to mesh with the group's synergy or understand what everyone is supposed to be doing. I've played solo for a damn long time and still have the mindset, but I'm looking to change that.
I have no idea how I would fare in a leading role. I have delusions of grandeur occasionally, but after leading a squad of randoms a few times and coming to the conclusion that squad lead controls are confusing and wonky, I just can't talk sometimes, and I still don't currently know how to fire an orbital, I figure I'll just leave it to the more experienced players. Once I get over my trouble speaking I'll possibly be effective giving vocal orders or relaying information, but probably not with the actual squad lead commands.
If you're interested in seeing how I'll run once I've got all my SP back, hit up Luka the Otter, my old main, and we can squad up a few rounds and see how things go. I'm not interested in just joining as Luka, unfortunately. I was wanting to get a fresh start on a character I actually liked in racial quarters that actually appeal to me, and that's what I'm doing.
TL;DR : HEY GUYS, I'VE BEEN AROUND ABOUT A YEAR AND BIOMASSED TO MAKE A NEW CHARACTER AND I'M KINDA GOOD BUT MOSTLY JUST AVERAGE AND I HAVE A MIC BUT IT DOESN'T WORK FOR THE PS3 WHAT CORP SHOULD I JOIN TO HAVE FUN 'CUS GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FU-UN.
I DON'T WANT TO BE PART OF THE TRY-HARDER FREE GUARD ANYMORE. |

I'm strongly leaning toward Vader's Fist or Corrosive Synergy. I think I'll probably go with CORSY, though, because there are more people that I know of, if not outright know. It does say they have a minimum 5 million SP requirement, though, and Gaston, being recently recreated, doesn't even have 1 million at the moment. Will that be a problem? I've got the experience, just not the SP. |
