Nah, not too many. Usually me and my buddies team up and destroy them in moments when we see one. That usually puts a stop to it for the round.
Well, they usually stop, leave battle, or call out more. In the case of the latter, really it's just helping our paycheck at the end, you need group support if your going to tank, otherwise your going to be overwhelmed by AV and as we all know, a good portion of dust sees group support as a foreign concept

But man they can be annoying. Driving around with their hardeners on, running to the red line before they turn off.
I seem to be on a roll of matches with at least one proto madruger running around. Not sure what newer players are supposed to do about them. |

The unfortunate thing about tanks in pubs is that with the reduced squad size for pubs it's more difficult to organize a counter for tanks. With a squad size of six it would be easy enough to dispatch two or three guys to deal with it while the rest held a point or did some other team based shenanigans, like lubing up the sentinel's HMG.
With 'fireteams' now being the only squad you can send into pubs, tanks can hold their own much more easily because it's send the whole fireteam or no one at all. It's not like the randoms running solo can coordinate to take it out. And considering a large majority of players prefer just shooting infantry, you don't have too many people who are actually skilled with AV to help take down the tank, including people in your own squad, and will instead just play a game of keep away whenever one rears its head. On the rare occasion you do have a random blue pulling out AV to try to keep the tank at bay, it's usually just the one guy having a showdown with heavy artillery. Heavy artillery usually wins, unless they're just a kill padding ***** who can't take so much as catching the edge of a plasma cannon blast before running crying into the redlines. |

I do have sympathy for new bros, but that sympathy runs up to a point. Dont engage them, evade them.
There are lots of areas where you can move to avoid blaster tanks, without having the suit or weapons to engage them. Moving inside of rooms, getting onto high floors, looking around before you cross open areas, especially if you see a tank icon on your radar. Every dropsuit picks 'em up on thier tacnet at 80 m. That gives you roughly 4 seconds to get the hell out of dodge.
Thats where playing experience matters far more than stats.I'd reccomend players to try out some somas. Once you get a feel for the map areas you can't engage with a soma, those are the same areas you'll learn to move to on foot, when that inevitiable gv.0 rears its ugly head.

if its a problem I may be able to help, when tanks started becoming a problem I didn't know how to pop them but after about a a few days of looking over their weaknesses i figured out a few ways to deal with them
most of these tactics require certain skills, but I've made due with what I had available at the time if you cant find any other way to deal with them I suggest to skill into vehicle turret upgrades
stacking 3 enhanced damage mods and a complex heat sink on a sica is enough to take out all if not most proto tanks, I will warn you that if they have rail or missiles you will drop way faster then you can drop them so get the jump on them and only spawn in at a safe distance also even if they do only have blasters be careful because maddies have better top speed and easily accelerate faster due to fuel injectors, if its not a double hardened fit it should go down in no more then 3 shots otherwise it might take up to 9 and you only get a small window of opportunity before your mods run out and have to recharge with this fit but its fairly cheap and a coordinated squad can take out multiple tanks easily
you will more then likely have to use CPU mods so skilling into vehicle core upgrades is encouraged at least to the third level
other ways to kill proto tanks include using a mixed variety of flux nades, AV nades, packed RE's and various other resources such as minor flux strikes and AV weaponry to complement one another
my fit is a std gladius (you can use gunnies too but I prefer solo tanks) with 3 enhanced damage mods a complex heat sink an enhanced heavy shiled plate to survive an extra hit from rails, two enhanced CPU mods, and an enhanced rail turret
just checked the fitting for a sica, 3 enhanced rail mods and a complex heat sink with all std rails just barely makes it without having to use any cpu mods, you only have 37 cpu left over and no low slot mods, but using one std cpu mods allows for the use of a basic 120mm armor plate, I will remind you that the mods apply to all rails not just the main large rail so if you have two passengers helping it may be possible to deal massive amounts of damge before they can react

But I guess you've got to spend it somehow... Actually, if you're playing PC, using officer gear isn't recommended (against good corp) cause you'll get killed without enjoying the gear.
On pubs or FW, you can have these interesting fights where you are dominating, but the enemies aren't giving up and these ones are worth using officer gear!

Yeah you make a very good point. I see a lot more high tier AV on field even if I am just rolling around in low tier HAV and more recently a lot moer Beacon's Swarm Launchers.
The simple thing this all comes down to is arms race. The higher the tier weapon or HAV you bring out the higher tier counter you can expect to be brought against you.

AP Grasshopper is a really, really good tanker. Definitley need good teamwork and a solid plan to take him down.

If all else fails and you are solo, try using good RE`s. Set a trap and be patient! Bait the tanker into your trap with a juicy kill (or so he thinks) then boom!
It works especially well if the tanker doesn't realise that you have RE`s and he does not see any sort of AV in your hands.

Tank trap tactic: Hiding in patience for the opportunity Get some Proxy RE, Lay them out where there is alot of tank traffic, or a place where you suspect the tank will come. Don't engage tank until he runs over RE(He probably won't have his Hardeners on if he's just driving around) Make sure no one engages him before he gets to RE''s, if you do He'll put his hardeners and run like a *****. After he runs over RE's finish him with 3 packed AV grenades and if he still lives(Probably by a little hp if any) hit him with a PLC.
Best to use all proto especially Lai dais for this
Also when he hits the RE's He'll most likely nitro backwards so you might wanna be behind him when that happens So you get a better opportunity for the extra barrage.
If the tank see's you, don't worry, he probably hasn't seen the RE's yet, so you can try to bait him with weak AV make him come to you and boom 150, if he has seen the RE's or someone scans the RE's go back into hiding and try again later Patience is key
This is my best AV solo tactic, I've harvested lots of tank tears with this. Most tanks get killed by the RE's alone, but if you're not able to throw down a trap, the Lai dais and PLC alone is enough to kill most tanks..
Results may vary for Proto Cal Tank, seeing these are rare enough and they like to keep to their redline so it's hard to lay a trap on these S.O.Bs.
(This is for a scout btw, need to be sneaky when passing out those Proxy RE's and hiding in the shadows like some predator stalking his prey. You probably can use another class, but if the tank or enemy team spots/scans you its over they be on you like white on rice)
Stay safe on those deadly tank streets and may our love for explosions hasten your steps o' young warrior

Another problem with tanks: Even though it's hard for pretty much all AV A mlt Damage buffed Rail tank always get the job done better, easier, and cheaper... Something wrong with that ****
