My endorsements, and more importantly, why I endorse them. Pokey Dravon, Cross Atu, Darth Carbonite, Breakin Stuff, Kevall Longstride, Zaria Min Deir, and Ripley Riley deserve your votes!

Immortal John Ripper wrote:I approve of this list, except I would probably replace zaria with Amadi.
Amadi has a lot of good ideas, and was on my list last year, but I'm not sure he has the right attitude to work effectively with CCP. Also, Zatara was a lot of help with the high-level play perspective, and I don't want CPM2 to lose that.

Demens is a solid candidate. Looks like Dust User is only running to troll though.

Vrain, I was a big proponent of that greater universe and link thing, but it is no longer a big focus of CCP's vision. In multiple public statements they've stated they want to make each separate game great on its own. While I'd like to see more link, the game needs to be in a much better state before talking about it would make any headway woth CCP.

Vrain, I agree in parts, for sure. I definitely still aspire to see one connected game universe. Though New Eden is all of the games, and standing up for DUST matters just as much, if not more, than standing up for EVE. With any luck, someday EVE devs will have to design sometimes to accomodate us, rather than the other way around. ;)

Tis an editorial. It's not the position of the blog, and other authors are welcome to submit alternative views, if they meet quality muster. We actually put out an open offer for other outgoing CPM to post their thoughts, and we're always interested in new people who want to write for the site.

M' Lady wrote:I really think the outgoing CPM should be banned from posts activities like this...
The CPM is our CPM not one elected by the outgoing members.
I sure members of the community can vote for members who are responsible or representing areas of the game we want to see more ideas pumped into on our own.
That goes for the rest of the outgoing people as well.
Thankfully, CPM as players are free to post almost anything we want. ;)
In part, due to the closed nature of the CPM, it can be more difficult for regular community members to know what being a CPM is like, and what sort of attitude works or doesn't work for the job. We're in a great position to predict who will be good CPM members and who will not.
The community members definitely can vote for who they want. And as a community member, I'm free to make posts recommending people vote one way or the other, just like anyone else. Being CPM doesn't make me not a player anymore, it doesn't make my opinion irrelevant, and I'm free to express it outside of the limitations of the NDA.
Immortal John Ripper wrote:Zatara took a break from playing dust (he admits but also says that he still attended meetings) . But even so... How can you help further develop a game your not playing?
I'm not sure Z has a PS3 anymore. But I'd actually say after filling out a term that actively playing the game has little to do with CPM job effectiveness. Our own personal experience in game isn't generally as important as the feedback we receive from other players anyways. In fact, I didn't even look at in-game activity numbers when determining my list.

Immortal John Ripper wrote:Do you seriously believe in what you are saying right now?
Absolutely. If our feedback to CCP was based on our own experience rather than the community's, we wouldn't be doing that great of a job. You need to understand the game, definitely. But I can provide focused feedback on a patch without actually playing it.

Usually it's just being busy, GJR. Doing the CPM stuff (and in my case also running a blog, moving, looking for a new job while working, and then starting a new job) takes a lot of time.
And between doing my elected job as a CPM and playing the game, I want to make sure I'm doing my job for the community.

I was just using myself as an example. I don't feel attacked :)
Regarding Judge, he seemed to have a plausible justification for a while. When he came back, and then ditched off again immediately, I stopped defending him. I was never a big fan of his (I advocated people not vote for him) but I gave him the benefit of the doubt.
I don't fly dropships when I play, GJR. So it doesn't matter if I'm playing the game or not when passing on feedback on dropships. As barely anyone really plays every single role, your point only highlights my point.

Fox Gaden wrote:How many were there last year? Like 750 or something, with like 300 voting only for Judge? Or am I remembering that wrong?
There were 936 (or 937, there's disagreement on this for some reason) votes last year, and yeah, about 300 were just for Judge. Breaking the old election total in one day means many more players this year know what the CPM is, and want to be involved in making this game better than it is.
