Check out this short 3 minute video.
None of what I say here will make any sense to you unless you watch the whole video.
INDESTRUCTIBLE - LAV
In this video you will see my AV grenades "lia dia packed" turn into ROAD FLARES when used on an enemy LAV. These AV grenades are set to explode on contact no time delays. I thought it was due to the LAV being in the redline but that was not the case, the battle after I blew up a tank with my Lia dia's in the red line. This LAV lasted in the red line for over 2 minutes when usually you have no more than 20 seconds. Glitch or Hack? It also had extreme speed that no LAV should ever have, plus it survived crashing into a dropship at full speed, the dropship blew up and the lav didnt even get one bit of damage done to it. Tanks couldnt kill it , forge guns did no damage, lia dia's turned into road flares, speed was never before seen so fast.
Glitch or Hack?
I say Hack!
Player in question is 'murdercar2 roadkill' that even sounds like a name a hacker would use.
What do you all think? Please help me understand what the heck just happened in this video.

Speed was normal for someone with fuel injectors on, tank could have killed it but stopped trying (I think he overheated?) and yet...
Da fawk...
I've never seen AV grenades do that... ever...
Given the vast amount of glitches in this game though, I'm just going to guess it was a glitch. If someone can hack Dust to make their LAV nearly unkillable, I think they'd go for something like 10K HP or something instead of a boring hack like a partially indestructible LAV.
That first AV grenade wasn't even thrown soon enough to hit the thing though.
What? Am I mad? Why do you ask?

The tank tried and literally did no damage, it was outa the video. Same with the forge gun hits 2 back to back and no damage done.
I am not talking about the first av I am talking about the last two that turned into road flares.
It was un killable and what better hack than something hardly noticeable like an LAV.
If you try and say that video was normal wow it was far far far from being a normal LAV.

What I find more inexplicable than an invincible LAV is the frequency with which people claim others hack dust. Given that almost everything on dust is controlled server side it would be rather challenging to hack dust without CCP noticing. Really people, which is more credible, that someone hacked CCP or that DUST514, a game that has experienced some amazing glitches (some of which were very temporary), had yet another glitch.

Because we have never, by which I mean regularly, experienced game braking glitches and mechanics that made vehicles or players invincible/invisible/clipping/incorrectly colored....
Yes someone could hack CCP just to say they did but the likely-hood of that happening is almost nothing compared to the likelihood that what happened was a game glitch.

that lav had 1k shields and I suspect it had regs in the lows
I also assume the drive has max vehicle skills
all that being said it is reasonable to believe that due to the nature of LAV's that it had a high innate recharge with very low delays
meaning due to the frequency of the attacks that it may have repped trough the damage of the maddy and took on the full blast of each nade with reduction to damage due to shields
thats as much as I can tell but I do know of ways to actually make a truly invincible saga II

If you watch the video I was further out of the redline than the LAV, it was 15 - 20 meters deeper in the redline and you can tell this after i die you see the redline countdown for a suicide. So if you say they were not in the redline your wrong they were 20 meters deeper in the redline than myself. Somehow that LAV survived over 2 minutes behind the redline and finally self destructed.

So you are saying ccp has never claimed ddos attacks because as far as their twitter posts show it happens all to often those are indeed hacks, sending false traffic. This was no glitch but indeed a hack I have seen this same dude perfom similar hacks on many different things I was only able to capture him doing it on the LAV.
Thumbs down to your glitch explanation...
There are hacks that you can do that are not even server side acknowledged. Does not take much searching on youtube and google to find a reasonable tutorial on the subject.

So, you are wrong. I know, some one on the internet is wrong, it is unbelievable.
You are saying that a DDOS is as difficult as creating a malicious piece of code that tricks a game whose major mechanics (damage tracking, item location, etc..) are all handled in on a secure server into violating several of its fundamental rules. It seems thay you are ignoring the fact that DDOS attacks are such simple tasks that any one can perform them after a simple search of the internet or a trip to a TOR site. They are simple enough that 12 year olds have been caught orchestrating them.
The hack you are proposing, on the other hand, includes but is not limited to: gaining administrative privileges on a server, altering the code of an actively running program or convincing it to pull from a different rule set, making sure that this hack only affected a single instance of the program (you didn't hear a raft of comments about other people experiencing invulnerable LAVs that day did you and since lots of these issues are handled server side it would affect everyone unless it was pretty stincking complex), and doing all of this without leaving any tracks or seemingly needing to wait for an update to deploy said malicious code to the server. That is a whole heck of a lot to presume. In fact, a quick search of google will reveal that hacking server-side applications (that aren't flash based) is actually really stinking hard (linking on said topic would be against the EULA so I will skip that).
Mind you this master hacker your envisioning has done all of this without CCP saying anything or announcing anything them-selves. When was the last time a creative hack of a company happened without a) the company acknowledging it happened or b) the hackers pea-cocking about how l33t they are.
Once again which option seems more likely? That a malicious hacking team spent hundreds of hours of energy hacking a server just to make a single players vehicle in a game invincible without getting caught or shouting to the world how amazing they are or...that a game which has a long history of bizzar and game breaking bugs displayed yet another bizzar and potential game breaking bug.
Just in case you aren't convinced that DDOS attacks are really simple I found a reddit thread that has a perfect analogy describing what a DDOS is and why it is so simple. You can read it here.

They are simple enough that 12 year olds have been caught orchestrating them. The hack you are proposing, on the other hand, is extremely complex. Sure, it can be done. I won't deny that servers can be hacked. The point is that it would take massive ammounts of effort since you are trying to do something that the server is expressly set up to prevent. A DDOS is easy because it is simply flooding a server with requests and fielding requests is what servers are meant to do. A google search on server side-hacking will bring up pages of internet forums and hacking websites that talk about how this is actually not an easy task. In this case you are also talking about changing a fundamental game mechanic that all players use and applying that change to a single player in a single running instance of the game (or did everyone else playing DUST at that time also experience invincible LAVs). Mind you, this master hacker you're envisioning has done all of this without CCP saying anything or announcing anything them-selves. Iam not questioning the player in question, the tutorials I have seen give you a piece of software to perform the mods, I call them mods not hacks if you think thats a better term. Either way it does happen. Look at all major games you find nothing but modders spending days and hours perfecting there scripts and mods with a custom software.
All I am trying to say is I have seen many glitches in dust and I have seen many mods this was 100% a MOD / hack.
Dude way back when this game first came out I seen hvys firing non stop forge gun shots outa a hmg and your telling me its never been hacked? Also seen tanks firing laser beams out of their blasters. Just a glitch as well?
Do your research not just on outa game material but also by playing long enough to know whats what.

Thats 100% not what happened, that LAV magically absorbed plc's, tank blasters and forge guns too... LOL not just my Lia dia's turning into road flares which i have never seen before its as rare as the time I seen a tank blaster firing a laser beam or a the time I seen an hmg firing forge gun shots at the rare of an asaault hmg in the world of dust today. Yes, I am telling you that the chance that what ever you saw was a hack is almost zero.
There are plenty of tools for modding client side libraries but those tools do not allow you to alter the game servers of games that rely on corporate server side hosting like dust. A simple mod tool will not have the means to break into a game server and modify behavior.
Give one of those packages a try on a game that relies on server side control like dust does and see how well it works for you? You may be able to modify your UI but you won't be able to modify the games behavior because the server is where Aaliyah of that is calculated. All your PS3 does in the case of dust is io work and rendering. Unless you alter the code on the server itself you aren't going to change anything of substance.
Even ignoring all of that though, even assuming that you found a coder (or more likely a coding team since this is extremely complex) who built a suite of tools for you to break into a specific server. Even taking the rediculously unlikely idea for granted that your coding team was able to reverse engineer the compiled code on said server and deploy a modification on it all of which without being noticed (this isn't a smash and grab job here you need to do some serious work once you get to the server since you don't really know what the code there will look like until you reverse engineer it).
Even after all those assumptions how are you going to explain the fact that no one else playing the game at the same time as you experienced invincible LAVs. Remember, all the mechanics of the game a controlled by the server which means any alteration to the code on said server is going to affect every player using it. LAVs suddenly becoming invincible is the kind of thing that members of the community are going to talk about as is evidenced by this thread. Doesn't it strike you as odd that you are the only one comaining about it? Doesn't that seem the least bit unlikely if, the severs code has been modified as you would have others believe.
It is becoming pretty clear that you have some massive gaps in your understanding of 1) computer security and the relative difficulty of various elicit tasks 2) server side game architecture 3) Occam's razor and 4) how tinfoil hat crazy you sound. I have tried explaining patiently and your responses clearly indicate that you are stubbornly ignoring facts and common sense. If you want to keep building conspiracy theories and tales of grand yet pointless mega hacks you are welcome to.
You might also want to join some of the Jade Helm 15 fifteen chat rooms. Wachout, the U.S. Government is going to take over Texas. You should have no trouble that ignoring the fact that the U.S. Government took over that state a very long time ago and will fit right in.

Wow I guess you are just one of those people that always has to get in the last word, well so am I.
Being a web developer for my real life job I would say I know about 200% more about codes, mods, hacks, ddos and every other subject on the matter, I bought a sold my first domain name way back in 1996 I am guessing you were just a kid in a diaper at that time.
That massive waste of space that you typed in had nothing at all relevant in it, but thx anyways.
Ok explain how a tank can fire a laser beam the radius of a forge gun or how can a HMG fire forge gun shots at the rate of a HMG assualt? Never mind the players I have seen with three heavy weapons in their suit or my lia dia's turning into road flares.
When this game first came out there were so many mods it was very funny.
I am not saying they were hacked for like aurum purchases no way never happened, I am saying there are still the odd few from the good old days that still use mods on this game.
I just happened to capture one of these...
If only you have seen what I have seen in this game your perspective would totally change about mods in dust 514.
You are trying to tell a web developer, whats right and wrong? LOL I went to school for 3 years learning all about security in the process and what you say makes me laugh out loud.
Once again i am able to tell the difference between a glitch or a mod, its not hard at all.

Well that was only a few clips from the video, how do you explain it smashing into a dropship full speed and not blowing up when the dropship did and the LAV got out with 0 damage? Or how do you explain direct plc hits and forge gun hits doing NO DAMAGE at all even when it was right side up?
I have used lia dia's on upside down LAV's before and it blows them to pieces on contact, I play enough dust to know when something is a glitch and when something is not.
Not once did i see that LAV use any hardeners and it was as if it had 10 going at all times.
Also please explain how it lasted 2+ minutes in the red line?? it only self destructed when the player in question called in another LAV to do it all over again.

It's not just LAv's, I've seen this with drop ships. Not that they don't take any dmg per say just that they recover it instantly. I think something went a bit wrong with the latest patches about shield recharge. I was at a large rail gun turret the other day shooting a dropship. It had about 2k shields but it would recharge to full every time I hit it in the pause between blast. It was way to often to just be a shield booster. A high recharge plus a low delay has made some vehicles nearly un-killable right now to anything but over whelming force.
My guess it wouldn't be to hard to do it on a LAV either. With the speed they have most shots would miss, if you only get hit 1 in 2 or 3 shots by enemy AV your shields would be recharged each time. Add in a hardener and you could do laps threw enemy fire with ease. |

My guess it wouldn't be to hard to do it on a LAV either. With the speed they have most shots would miss, if you only get hit 1 in 2 or 3 shots by enemy AV your shields would be recharged each time. Add in a hardener and you could do laps threw enemy fire with ease.
But the lia dia's turning into road flares, have you ever seen that before?
I can totally understand your point of view on the shield stuff but how was it able to survive a tank blaster with no shield and only armor left? Those shield LAV's go down so fast once their shield is done, this one even hard armor stronger than its shield. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Well my only other other guess than some kind of glitch or exploit, like endless armor hardeners would be lag. When lag spikes people often take no dmg though seemingly able to dish it out.
Frankly I'm leaning towards lag more than anything though. A glitch or exploit would turn up more often as people figure it out. |

The AV grenades didn't hone in on the car because it was UPSIDE DOWN. That being the only real problem with the video. The base plates are regarded differently from the top plates.
In the middle portion, the tank was NOT firing at the car until it slid up next to it to poke it a half second the shields went down as epxected, and then the player's camera bounced over the tank. The tank then retreated.Tank had attacked 2 or so dropsuits before attempting to poke the car.
He might have stopped, thinking you wanted to hack it... The tanker in question was my corp mate and if you read the youtube comments you will see he tried everything he could and it would not blow up. he also said he has killed tanks with more armor and shield 3x quicker. that LAV was not blowing up were his quotes. We all know once shield is gone on that type of LAV then it blows up very easily due to low armor. Well not the case here either its as if its armor was stronger than its shield which makes no sense at ALL! For it to have all those speed mods all that shield all that armor all those hardeners it would seriously need 20 slots.
I'm going off your video. If it's not in the video, I can't authenticate your claim.
Also, I did not see any forge, nor Plasma use in your video.
The car was not in the redline, because the driver seat determines the position.

Watch the video again right when i die look at the screen it shows quickly the redline border. the LAV is way in the redline. the forge and plasma hits were not captured, but they did occur. I cant show them as I never seen it on my screen but they did happen. Anyways I have seen many glitches guys n gals Ill say it another 5 times if I have to but this was not a glitch more an exploit or a mod.

There is no possible way to hack into dust unless you extracted it, had a program to read the coding on your computer changed the coding and put it back onto your ps3 that is way too much work and I believe even than it still wouldn't work. It was obviously a glitch "loved the look of the flares though" and I think the person tanking was ****** and couldn't kill it either.

Actually I have seen that person tanking kill other tanks easier than that LAV, It was really f'd up.
You didnt even see half of what really happened, so you wouldnt really know I just captured the road flares part.
But ya still left with what the heck just happened.
You all try and say what happened but the truth is no one knows what happened as kno one has ever seen that BS before.

Av nades work on upside down vehicles, I have used them on upside down vehicles a lot and they always work. Not sure what bamage means LOL.
You must be truly blind, everything missed so how did it lose it shields? Your making yourself look a little noobish watch the video again you will see. Plus the stuff you didnt see, plc hits, forge hits, a tank blaster fully unloading on it till they overheated and no damage even done and yet you say everything was a miss.
Read the youtube comments people in that battle have posted there backing me up also o7

I dont really think of it as a hack anymore more so a ps3 side mod or maybe a glitch but glitches pop up frequently and no one has ever posted or mentioned av's into road flares before nor have they shown the proof.
So for that reason alone i rule out glitch and weigh in heavily on mod.

Good point but actually...
My explanation for them doing that is once you have rolled your LAV it become mandatory for you to get out of your LAV to even be able to flip it back over, which is probably what they were trying to do.
