Corporate Warfare.
Have we seen what is being added in corporate warfare?
Lets backtrack.
Has anyone read what CCP was wanting us to test out?
It was just the Skirmish mode and Ambush modes for now, right? Does that mean that is all they are going to present to the public upon release? No. Sure, they might've stated that null sec and Conquest are not going to be in at launch, but that doesn't mean other things won't be in, right?
Does that mean that CW isn't being included, or does that mean CW will focus on skrimish/ambush?
No vehicles? No thanks. I like my Dropships, despite the 30 second flight time I get before it drops. Do they present a new tactical angle? Yes. Yes they do.
Have the detractors to DUST ever looked up what CCP's overall mission is with this game? Have you all looked at what they are going to present us BETA testers when they open the beta up for a large influx of players + a new update on the 29th?
A brief list:
Crashing will be addressed Hit detection will be addressed Graphics will be addressed Some of the mechanics of driving will be addressed Lag will be addressed.
I am sure there are more, but those are the big ones, in my opinion.
To the OP: The first few lines of your 'review' got me interested. I was hoping for an unbiased observation instead of an opinionated discussion of what you felt should be in the game. Sadly, I was met with the second one as soon as the tone turned to irrate.
Additionally, I've been in many a closed beta in my 20 years of online gaming... Like... The Real Beta Testing. The sort where the developers give you some stuff, you test it out, find bugs, break stuff, report everything to the devs. While doing so, you give feedback and work with other testers to ensure that the game is presented in the best way possible to the public. These beta tests are usually just a few notches above internal beta testing, or even an alpha phase. We're well past alpha, but we're definitely not too far removed from internal beta.
I have also been in the 'beta testing' phases that aren't really a beta test and are just a teasing way to get players to check out their really cool game with this really cool slightly altered idea from their last game idea thing (I'm looking at you, COD, BF, Halo... God I hate you Halo, you and your worst ever gameplay... Halo 1, not the others, I didn't hate the others as much).
My only suggestion for the detractors and even for those people who are genuinely interested in actually testing out the game is to step back, look at what is presented (read the information from the devs, too), and look at the game objectively instead of fanatically, or with some other sort of bias.
Edit: Spelling/some words may be incorrect. Lack of sleep (played DUST all weekend with 4 hour napping breaks and pauses in between crashes to do math), a cold, and my correction button doesn't seem to work today. |

This is my initial comments of Dust 514. I just got the beta today and I'm hoping my input will help CCP make a better game. I'm sure the issues that I am going to point out are some points that have been iterated many times over so just bear with me.
1. Hit Detection/Lag- What the hell is this garbage? The hit detection on this game blows. It seems like my bullets are going into thin air even though I'm getting that red x. This and add the lag and you have a pretty ****** time.
This is the biggest issue with Dust. An FPS needs to have weapons and all that jazz, but hit detection is most important to an FPS. CCP get this right.
2. Weapon recoil-Dust 514, if you fix the hit detection, takes no skill. Why? There is practically no recoil on the GUNS! Not only that, Hipfire is just as accurate as ADS? Wow. Put some spread please.
3. Movement-God, Didn't know that sci-fi worlds were made of Molasses and Quicksand. The movement is so slow and clunky.
4. Weapon Switch with triangle- HELLO? Need I say more to this? Why do I have the retardo wheel? No thanks.
5. Names- It's a small feature but I would like to know who my enemies are and who my teammates are. It's probably a glitch but Sometimes, I can't see the names of my teammates at all, and I accidentally shoot them.
Overall, Dust 514 sucks super hard right now. I can't believe that this is the beta build they have for us. Keep in mind that this is the beta! That means it's one stage before going GOLD, which means that if they were to make any changes, they wouldn't be super drastic. I'm really disappointed with this game so far. An FPS needs to be smooth and the hit detection needs to be spot on. Weapons need to have recoil. Poor Show CCP.
I don't understand how you will bring this to the e-sport scene with all your Molasses Shenanigans.
E-sport suggestions. CCP has stated that in 2013 that they will expand into the e-sport scene. Well, hopefully all problems I mentioned above will be fixed. Here are some e-sport suggestions
1. Make e-sport matches to contain stock armor and stock weapons only, or open all skills, armor, and weapons to be available to everyone.
This evens the playing field making it show skill only. Everyone has access to all equipment or everyone has the same equipment.
2. No. Vehicles.
You want to showcase skill and talent? No vehicles. Gunskill only.
3. Maps- Obviously CCP has said that it will be a gladiatorial arena so I'm guessing that the maps will be small enough to support 4v4 only.
4. 4v4 is the magic number- For esports, 4v4 or sometimes 5v5 is the best number due to the fact that it is easier to communicate and work together, and it is easier for spectators to watch. Watching a 16v16 would be way to hectic. Watch any esport game that contains FPS. Counter-strike, CoD, Halo- All these games only have teams that consist of 4v4 with the exception of Counter-strike that does allow 5v5.
5. Game-modes- CTF, Escort, and a "Search and Destroy" type of game type (1 life respawn). Counter strike- has the search and destroy and escort game modes while Halo has the CTF game modes. Copy them. They got it right.
Overall, if you want to make it a good e sport game then follow these guidelines. Plus the fixes mention in the beginning. I have great hope for Dust 514 and I believe that with these fixes, it will be a great and competitive game. what part of BETA do you not bloody get??? you are complaining about things, that are generally expected in a beta, furthermore, you are acting like it's a release game and you are reviewing it, no, you are a beta test, give feedback, report issues, don't bloody reveiw it like it's already a magical tripl a game... |

Dust 514 is ******* trash if the beta is trashy right now ,then it will be trashy when it releases,it never fails. There are so many other great shooters coming out this year. why watse time on another scifi look alike. for ex; section 8, section 8 prejudice, starhawk, warhawk. psn dose't really sit well with these types of games eventually they get boring, why? because people stop playing. So **** dust and it's dusty ass beta 514 times. |

Ha, where did you dig this up from?
Very interesting.
Well, hopefully all of the following will be fixed by E-sports 2013...

I get their point. Dust has been plagued by the same problems since June. Who knows about three weeks from now. Knock on wood.
It was kind of sad to see the original zombie get shouted down for suggesting that Arena mode have no vehicle matches. That seems like a good idea.
In the list I quoted, graphics and driving mechanics have been addressed. I like the new dropship physics, and the way that different modules make the LAV handle differently. There is a lot of room to push things around and get a fit that drives the way you like. |
