After the hotfix for progression system was deployed, some mercenaries were able to claim APEX suits from the progression system. This method has now been deemed an exploit, and as such we have to take action. According to our logs, your account was involved in claiming or trading those exploited APEX suits -- as a result, we have now removed all APEX suits earned through this exploit. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

"But we also have to ask you to refrain from using any such methods in the future, as they are a breach of the EULA 6/A.3: You may not use your own or any third-party software, marcros or other stored rapid keystrokes or other patterns to play that facilitate acquisition o items, currency, objects, character attributes, rannk or status at an accelerated rate when compared with ordinary came play. You may not rewrite or modify the user interface or otherwise manipulate data in any way to acquire items, currency, objects, character attributes or beneficial actions not actually acquired or achieved in the game."
[b]^ What? I did not violate this rule nor did I violate the spirit of this rule. Using an in-game interface, I pressed "Claim" when prompted to press "Claim". No 3rd party software, macros, rapid keystrokes were involved. I didn't press claim really fast. I followed the provided interface's prompts as designed; I did not rewrite nor did I modify the provided UI. I did not somehow manipulate data.

That's not the point. Yes, please remove all APEX suits which were circulated as result of the Progression UI's design oversight. Obviously, that's the right thing to do.
What is questionable here is the assertion that players did something wrong.
The cited "exploit provision" speaks to the intentional manipulation of user interface and/or backend data. This did not happen. In most (if not every) instances, folks simply pressed "claim" when prompted to press "claim". They didn't hack anything; they followed on-screen instructions.
There should be a separate EULA provision for an "accidental exploit" which may follow a design oversight; in situations such as this one, this would be the appropriate rule to cite.

I see what your saying here and I agree, the second provision applied seems inappropriate; its inclusion in the email you received makes the action seem like less of a fair correction and more of a unjust punishment.
While everyone can clearly agree that the removal of the suits was fine there was no need to also "criminalize" players for a programming mistake. That being said perhaps CCP was not able to reproduce the bug with out manipulating the UI, in which case they perhaps should have asked you some questions prior to taking action against you.
Now with more evil.

I thought the same. We didn't breach any rule. It was a simple mistake from CCP.

(we are humans and made mistakes) but the Rattati Overlord reaction was : "All people will be banned as we do in EVE same as this cases !! groarwww !!!!" and 10min later.. the post was deleted.... well this two weeks of silent was to delete each bugged-dirty Serpent and... maybe they could do a more carefull test to the next patches...

That second part is pathetically incorrect and totally uncalled for from CCP. Threatening to punish the PLAYERS when it was the DEVELOPERS that allowed for the mistake. In no way do I see anything that was done as a breach of the EULA. WE did none of the things mentioned there.
Absolutely uncalled for on CCP's side. Can someone please explain how clicking the claim button of a new feature of theirs constitutes as a breach of the EULA? Flux off CCP, get off your high horse and join the players back on earth. |

I bet they get some apex sales from players getting a taste and not wanting to grind fw for another...
When this project was finished I had 500$ budgeted out for dust to make up for lost time. (I know, I have a dust problem)
After quafe conversion snafu, and now this customer hatemail; I begin to wonder what our future customer relations will be like.
Some of us claimed everything in that menu we could the second we noticed it. And the lions share of the claimed suits were GIVEN, FREE, GRATIS, to people without a bpo to speak of...
Two of my whales are back, and spending money again. The taste of apex further fueled their addiction.
I just don't know.

Just checked. Federation Serpent Scout is in Loyalty Store, but the AUR variant is present among the other APEX suits under Loadouts. I'm sure that they'll add it back. Soon :-)

I don't care about this suit, real gk.0 is insanely better, but second part is rude, in bad taste and unprofessional:
Quote:"But we also have to ask you to refrain from using any such methods in the future, as they are a breach of the EULA 6/A.3: You may not use your own or any third-party software, marcros or other stored rapid keystrokes or other patterns to play that facilitate acquisition o items, currency, objects, character attributes, rannk or status at an accelerated rate when compared with ordinary came play. Should I now be afraid of menus in my progression tree or wherever, because they might have fouled up again? Awesome!
Also how can APEX suit be "achieved in the game"? Because as far as I know it can only be bought with money. So if it was available for 'claim' how does that differ from claiming it with AUR? There is no achievement in getting APEX besides paying CCP and they can't be traded with other players as far as I know, so no impact on market as well. CCP enabled the option, then calls people who used it exploiters, citing things that does not apply and promising consequences in the future.
I personally, as a paying customer who has been giving money to CCP since closed beta, found this second part offensive and silly. Will no longer fund this BS treatment.
"Balancing" will continue until full racial disparity is reached.

Just gonna say it:
There was like two guys who did this in innocence, the rest ran as soon as they heard of the exploit to collect the ISK. So, I don't feel bad about the letter. I do feel bad for the guys that bought the suit from people who knew they were up to something. Basically the sellers scammed people out of 10m each, and they knew they were doing it. We are mostly adults left on here, so trying to fain innocence after you get a 5 for 1 deal is a little childish.
I am sorry for the few that just happened to be redeeming this on the wrong day, but the truth still remains most of the claimants WERE exploiting a bug. You can read my previous post and see I am not the biggest CCP fan, and they are at the root of the glitch. That still does not change the fact that the vast majority of redeemers on that day were trying to game the system and then later scammed others. So, don't be too butt hurt when CCP calls you out on it. |

Is this seriously what everyone has been bitching about? That message is very politely worded and doesn't directly infer that the recipient themselves intentionally abused the oversight on the Serpent APEX for personal gain, nor does it imply that the player is going to be punished, nor is there even implication of threat of punishment.
It states simply as this:
Quote:After the hotfix for progression system was deployed, some mercenaries were able to claim APEX suits from the progression system. This method has now been deemed an exploit, and as such we have to take action.
We made a booboo and some people took advantage of that. They shouldn't have been doing that.
Quote:According to our logs, your account was involved in claiming or trading those exploited APEX suits -- as a result, we have now removed all APEX suits earned through this exploit. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
According to our logs, you have a suit that was claimed for free from this booboo. We're taking it away and we're sorry for your loss.
Quote:But we also have to ask you to refrain from using any such methods in the future, as they are a breach of the EULA 6/A.3.
And if you used the claim button to get these suits we ask that you don't do that when you have suspicion that such a thing may be unintended. We are making you aware that that particular action was a breach of the EULA and this is the particular part of the EULA that was breached so you know specifically what it was.
Seriously, you guys are reading way too much into that. It's like you want to be offended. |

the problem is that that section of the EULA doesnt apply to this situation and insinuates people somehow glitched or hacked the UI to obtain the BPOs
CCP sent a mail acusing everyone who clicked "claim" of hacking....
