Just had one laying around from one of my computer builds its a pny 240 gig. Since the ps3 is so old it cant fully make use of todays ssd's so the cheapest one for the storage size you want will work good.

Dovalis and Aramis are both correct with their posts. I just dont know what else to say other than I dont have studdering frame rates anymore, loading everthing is much quicker and there isnt noticable lag. But I do understand that as you both said are two different things. I cannot comment to performance in a pc though. If someone could get me into one I would like to try it with my setup.

They're at a good price point now a 240 gig will set you back anywhere from $80 and up if on sale.

The 850 evo is a top of the line ssd. Since the ps3 only uses sata1 any cheap ssd will work just as good. But for quality its one of the best.

That and they're still more expensive than conventional drives. The one I linked works on PS3 and and PC so you can switch it after you're done on ps3, also heard ps4 and xbone but this is just rumor I haven't tried it yet
It would definitly work on ps4 and xbox one.

Hope this helps others. No it didn't... it not designed for that, but you knew that already. While it does increase rendering speeds, it won't fix the lag if there is lag. It clears things up more than you're used to! At first I thought the same thing, but once your mind and eyes adjust to playing with the ssd you'll see. While I am the first on the battlefield to spawn, I wouldn't dare spread false hope. The SSD is an improvement, but not the holy grail.
The last thing I wanted to do with this thread was to spread false hope. I apologize if it sounded that way! It made such a dramatic improvement for me that I wanted to share that with the community in the hope it might help someone else out. =ƒÿÇ

[quote=DEATH THE KlD]I'm not saying it's perfect but I have yet to lose frame rates or even have to reset between pc's..I do not lag now but I do see others lag idk if that's the ssd or I've been lucky since hooking it up..it's really not nessecary to have one unless you do lots of PC I do 3-6 a day and don't feel like having 1fps because I bought the ultra slim ps3..also when I move on I will use the ssd on either my PC or ps4/xbone..it will get its use..but I think Arirana uses an 8gb ssd and says it works great..for dust you don't need a huge one but I'd go at least 120gb so you can use it afterwords..heard the 7200hdd's work good too, I don't have one so that's something you'd have too Google sometime..
TLDR: the best players use ssd, it does not 100% fix dust but makes it far more playable, 7200 rpm hdd's might be good enough[/quote
My only concern with the 7,200 rpm hard drives would be the extra heat they put out over the factory 5400. As far as what size to get, like you said depends on the person and their needs. I personally wont get any ssd smaller than a 240gig do to lifespan shortness in the smaller size drives. The good thing is prices are coming down.

Yes both of you are correct about the trim. The one I am using doesnt support its own trim but it was a spare that I had laying around. I do worry about its lifespan being shortened because of that but isnt Dust being ported to ps4 soon anyway...lol.
