So we know that recently CCP has altered the basic medium frames so that they feature an extra equipment slot, and I couldn't be happier... But what about the others???
Personally one I have wanted to see for a long time is an equipment slot on a basic or sentinel heavy (one that could equip a heavy weapon)... now I don't think it is appropriate for a sentinel but I wanna see this done on a basic heavy frame (because few people seem to use nanohives, and I have even seen people that have nanohives do nothing but stand right next to me while I wait for them to drop something cause I am out of ammo... but they never do, and that pisses me right off). And for many whom would think a heavy operator with an equipment slot would be OP there is no way it would be able to heal enough fast enough and no way it would resupply so much that it could promote reckless behavior based success (the main thing it would do is open the battlefield up so that maps with little to no supply depots wouldn't inherently kill the class, and allow tower units like forge gunners a chance to be more active in the battle)... and it especially wouldn't be very OP considering they get no reduction to heavy cpu or pg and the equipment will add extra cpu and pg to that so a full proto build would be quite difficult (if not impossible)... I would also not be opposed to some adjusted cpu and/or pg levels for the basics to make this less OP, I just don't like the heavies being so super dependent considering that you never know what kind of a team you will be on. There's more but you got the idea...
I would also like to suggest some modification to the scout suits to increase their uniqueness, but am not sure what that should be... any suggestions would be appreciated.
So, any thoughts??? |

So, any thoughts??? This right here is why i was against 2 eq on basics.
Now every basic "needs" an eq. boost.
No,it shouldn't have happened to mediums,it shouldn't happen to heavies.
Plus there's commandos to consider. It would undermine their uniqueness.

Your logic isn't quite right.
The reason the Medium Basic Frames were given 2 equipment was because it was a means to show newer players what it's like to be able to field multiple equipment like a Logistics without requiring them to spec into it to get a taste of the role.
This however is not the case with Sentinels/Commandos. Neither of their roles are Equipment centric and thus giving Basic Heavy Frames equipment is not appropriate.

I don't think a single equipment slot on basic heavies is such a bad idea. Sentinels get damage resistance and fitting bonuses, of course paying that premium, but the Basic heavy serves little purpose besides being inexpensive.
This would make it a cheap stop gap between sentinel and commando. It would encourage things like hives with FG, yes, but they aren't getting any of the sentinel bonuses either and are still weaker than their sentinel counterpart.
Also it would encourage pre-commando builds with light weapons on heavy frames. The lack of flexibility back and forth into AV and AI means it won't replace the commando but it would give people new to the role something to practice. |

Unfortunately, as much as I would love a sentinel with an equipment slot, it's best to be saved for an officer dropsuit instead.

See, this is one of those things I hate about the standardized slots design... OFFICER DROPSUITS DON'T HAVE ANY OF THEIR UNIQUE SLOT CONFIGURATIONS ANYMORE!!!!! Yes, it could also be a good officer dropsuit idea... I just wanna see a sentinel whom isn't afraid to fire cause he knows that's why he's gonna die. |

Basic Heavy is a natural feed into the Sentinel class, while Commando is essentially 'Heavy Assault'. The differences between Basic Heavy and Sentinel are not so great as to give one an eq slot.
I wouldn't mind the equipment slot if the bandwidth was adjusted to only allow a nanohive, but we know that it could only work if CCP limited it to only basic / MLT hives. Otherwise, we go right back to where we were with sentinels using all types of equipments. Heck, I even had a cloaked Sent for a while just for laughs, lol. Ha, personally I'd love to have a self repping, self resupplying, cloaked Sentinel running around, but I also know that's bad for the game. Especially if it's the 'other guy' that has it instead! Lol
Anyways, adding the eq slot back in only takes us backwards, and helps new guys develop the crutch. It's not very often that I can't find a hive somewhere, more often is I can't find an unlink to spawn in...
Which leads to the next point - logis should be appreciated. Resupply myself with armor repping hives is counterproductive to encouraging team cooperation. Even more so when I lose that ability to run Sentinel.
TL;DR - Equipment on heavy frame is a bad idea |

I hear what you're saying... I don't want all that, just the ability to restock my weapons when the enemy has destroyed the supply depots (or there never were any on that map) and the only thing my team is dropping is drop uplinks (have had this happen frequently)... so then I got an idea... Why not create a nanohive similar to the original compact minus the healing (basically it is just enough to help you hold on a bit longer, if you leave it then you're out of luck cause there is no second one to use, and all it provides is ammo of maybe 2 clips worth)??? |
