Ok...I understand that snipers are a plague to most FPS games that end up having nearly nothing BUT snipers, But the fact that sniping in this game has been made SOOOO horrible is appalling. Does anyone else think that sniping needs to be fixed? |

I hate the current state of sniping in the game as well, but I will have to wait and see what they did in the new build to judge properly. |

Im sniping, im doing just fine. Although when i first started sniping (1 day ago) i found it was annoying that it took 3-4 bullets to kills someone....in the head. Pick up the "Charged sniper rifle" and upgrade ur Sniper Rifle skill. And the Weaponry skill. Now i find its usually a 1hit kill. This games version of sniping is very different then COD, and as you said, i think its to avoid all the bush-snipers who think their heroes. |

As a sniper in other games, not COD as thats the worst example of snipers and gaming, i have to say the physics are great. And the sniper does as much damage as it should. It strips the shields and then the armor with two headshots. At least for me. |

Sniping is completely fine IMO apart from the jerky/stuttery movement of enemies that you are trying to hit. You get used to the initial sway. |

Im sniping just fine as well.
Get the standard (above militia) sniper rifle, fit two weapon damage mods, train sniper rifles and weaponry to lvl3 and you should be one shoting scouts, two shotting assaults and 4 shotting heavies if you get head shots.
I think it is perfect.
Also, you can shoot anyone you can see regardless of range.
Being a sniper in support of others in a fire fight nearly always turns the tide since you can strip shields away. |

My biggest issue is the recoil and scope swaying. Soo annoying to deal with. Would be great if there was a bipod available to put in high slot or even equipment slot. BF3 does the bipod and can be very hand but still requires a flat surface to use and takes time to deploy. |

That would be great to have...
...if we could ever go prone.
I actually saw some posters here in the forums say something to the effect that the prone position shouldn't be added. But I guess they fail to realize that, from a historical point of view, snipers have always used the prone position as that is the best way to mitigate some sway in their rifle. But even the prone position won't make a greater sniper as there is...
1. Still some sway in the rifle. 2. Your beating heart causes your body to make subtle motions that can throw off a shot by a huge margin. 3. Pulling the trigger alone already causes some sway in the rifle.
Heavily trained Marines, SEALS, and Army snipers practice a lot to reduce these effects, but even then there is no way to absolutely prevent sway in the first place. Now try doing all that in a boat that is bobbing up and down with the waves while shooting at a Somali Pirate hiding behind a 1-foot glass port hole several football fields away in a another boat. Oh wait...
My point is that there should still be sway even when reduced. I believe someone around here told me there is a skillbook that helps reduce sway little by little. But I also want to see a prone position made available. I don't know why CCP decided that all snipers should only shoot from the kneeling or standing position. |

Doing fine with the sniper rifle...max damage skills, working on the proficiency skill, and getting better at player skill...and I can vouch for the effectiveness of the other snipers in this thread...most of my deaths are from being countersniped, and most of the people who have done that to me have posted above...although I do occasionally see them first... |

My ONLY problem with sniping is that the magnification is too low. In the future I would think they would have a solution for that, some way of toggling from the current zoom level to a higher one. |

my first problem with sniping so far is the poor nature of animation at extreme long distances. At extreme long distances sometimes the player's dropsuit doesn't even visably load. I love the CHARGE rifle, and wish there were more advanced guns in this varient type.
my second problem with sniping was only an issue at first, I'm used to having a button that holds one's breath to steady the weapon, but in dust you just have to wait for a steady timer, after that it's really steady, and for much longer than one can hold a breath. That's probably the reason I like the charge gun as it forces me to take some time to steady. I'm hoping that in future builds dust will have steady-injectors or some such to temdecrease the wait time for the steady function significantly, maybe some skills too. (since it's not an on command function.) |

BF3 does the bipod and can be very hand but still requires a flat surface to use and takes time to deploy. Just because something is "annoying" doesn't mean it needs to be dumbed down. As for the bipod, I highly doubt it would fit into a slot. If it goes into a high/low slot, that would imply you could use any weapon with a bipod. If i went in equipment, you'd have to cycle through to your "bipod" and set it down. Now, you cycle all the way through to your weapon and place it on the bipod. I guess if you really need that bipod for one specific area, sure, that works. I assume like nanohives and uplinks, you wouldn't be able to pick them back up though. So that's for you to figure out. |

EVE's Dust is all about fittings... Your upset by the lack of damage your rifle is doing then pump more skills into sniping its a 5% per lvl gain. At the same time find a dropsuit that has as least 3 midslots you can add your highest damage mods you can put on.. Why 3 because any more than that and the stacking penalty makes any other worthless even the 3rd one drops alot of value. Your going to gimp your tank obviously but the point of sniping is to remain hidden at range and place a bullet in someones head. You do this and sniping will do you well. Also take into account that some dropsuits die easier than others. That Heavy DS is gonng take more hits obviously than a scout or assault suit. This brings teamwork into the mix get a budy sniper with you and primary targets at the same time landing double hits.
To sum this all up EVE's DUST is all about fittings, skill points, and the persons skill.
EDIT: Forgot to add Teamwork in there as well. |
