I truly believe Dust will make it off the PS3 eventually, and honestly I've always been the one to say that when it does the focus should be PS4 because they need to respect the player base they've already created. However as the years pass, I'm slowly stitching stance to support a PC version primarily. With already a good load of free to play titles on ps4 and bigger AAA titles starting to roll in full force, I'm really doubting how successful Dust could be on PS4 alone. A PC version needs to happen, and if resources are available a PS4 version alongside. Luckily PS4 is much more similar to a PC than the PS3, so who knows. If it does come to PS4 and PC (big If) cross play will be a must, which Sony has already proven to be flexible with.

I would have to completely disagree with you. PC seems like a far safer business choice. Sure there's more competition but there's also more of an audience. Not saying there isn't an audience for free to play shooters on PS4, just saying there's a greater one.
I would partially agree that a lot of the people wanting Dust to move to PC probably do already own a gaming PC and are thinking selfishly, though the same could be said that those who want it on PS4 don't have a gaming PC and are thinking selfishly. It's really a tough call, assuming that most people who owned a PS3 will more likely own just a PS4 opposed to a PS4 and PC or just a PC, then the respectful thing to do would be focus on putting Dust on PS4 above all else. On the other hand, if Dust is more likely to succeed on PC, then what good would doing the respectful thing be if it dies on PS4 shortly after? If it's only way to succeed is on PC at least it still exists.
Of course then the question becomes which is it more likely to succeed on which is very opinionated. Again the best choice would be to put it on both, and I'm no expert on the video game market but I see studios smaller than CCP get titles onto multiple platforms so I really don't know why they can't.
Aside: There are many games that connected multiple platforms simultaneously in the past, such as Portal 2 between PC and PS3, Warthunder between PC and PS4, and Rocket League between PC and PS4.

But yes absolutely both! It feels so trivial getting into heated debates between PC and PS4 when there's really no reason not to have both along with cross play. The only thing I can think off is being able to log onto the same account whether you log on from PS4 or PC. Of all the PS/PC games I know of, not one let's you do this and I'm not sure if there's some technical or legal reason for it. I imagine not.
