You get far to many of them. 8-10 in one mission isn't uncommon, and I believe 13 boxes is the most I've gotten from a single battles salvage. I'd be happy with a mere 1 isk just to get rid of them, but 1k or so wouldn't be horrible either.
One the major things I've noticed though is with the upswing of isk from PC battle raids you see a lot more proto stomping in pub matches now. Even ambushes are flooded with solo proto's. Or at least people in a squad that don't' use their orbitals despite having 2k+ each. Considering they die on average at least 2-3 times a match I can't see why they would do ambush unless their beyond rich. Thats great n all but i hardly run proto cuz im broke and my corp isnt a PC corp. Selling strongboxes for 1 isk is being way to generous considering the random content it holds is worth 100,000 times more than that. So selling it for half is like chump change. If you could trade strongboxes to other people, sure, you could base a price of more than 10k on the 'chance' that you could get something really good, or worth a lot. But selling to an NPC vendor for a guaranteed return? No, anything more than even 10k is too much considering how many of the things you get. Back when they were introduced the obtain rate for the damn things was obscenely high. There are people with thousands of them in their assets just from those first few days.
Not to mention technically these strongboxes are stolen and the only way to open them is to be the intended user or to use an illegal hacked key, so a market isn't actually going to want these things in the first place. |

Idiots bashing or mocking someone's religion just because it 'doesn't make sense' or is 'illogical' to them is what gives atheists a bad name. It's like how good and intelligent Christians have to deal with their religion being painted as all intolerant fuckwads just because there are people in their sect who take the bible too literally, don't think for themselves, or are abusing their religion for personal gain.
There are people who think that the Westboro Baptist Church is what all Christians really act like. Just like there are people who think the radicals involved in things like ISIS is what all Muslims act like. And there are people who think all atheists act like self important, know it all douchebags. |

That or make DK able to buy keys in a large enough number that maybe people won't have so many extra. It's unfortunate, but gambling addiction is what mechanics like these strongboxes hinge on to keep money flowing in. It's doubtful that there will be any way aside from the very few daily missions that offer them, which is there purely to give players a 'taste' of what they could be getting, and AUR to get keys. |

Not to mention technically these strongboxes are stolen and the only way to open them is to be the intended user or to use an illegal hacked key, so a market isn't actually going to want these things in the first place. The item itself may not be worth 50k isk but if you use the items in battle then the reward at the end justifies it. Lets say you open enough boxes to make a suit with gear n modules. This cost you 0 isk to put together with random items no matter how good or how bad the setup is. It was free. So in turn you use it in battle and made isk. The items just made a significant gain for you and you didnt have to spend isk. Knowing this whats wrong with selling the boxes if you gain more by making a suit from them for free. The problem with your scenario, though, is that the chances of you getting exactly what you wanted from these boxes to make a viable suit is incredibly low, not to mention enough of those exact same suits, modules, weapons, and equipment all together to last more than seven or eight deaths. You don't open a strongbox and choose what you get, you are literally gambling. What you get in that strongbox is entirely random, and chosen out of over 100 (I'm assuming, don't know exact numbers) potential items. From standard, advanced, and proto items, to different roles, different modules, different pieces of equipment, armor or shield, regulator or extender, myofib or kincat... There's no way to reliably craft a suit purely from strongbox gains without spending an unreal amount of money.
You would potentially be spending at least $50 to make a few free suits that you could have just spent ISK on, ISK that you gain so rapidly and so easily that even in matches where you do poorly you can still come out in the green. When you could literally just use that $50 you spent buying keys for strongboxes to make the perfect suit to buy an APEX or two and just modify that with equipment you want, and you would not only have a permanent free suit with permanent free modules, weapons, and equipment, but you could also change its loadout and be at a fraction of the loss per death. |

Right and since im only making 1 key a day it shouldnt be a big deal to give back some strongboxes for a little bit of isk. Also player trading is out and people sell stuff to other players all the time now. Yeah, and that's fine. I'm not saying you shouldn't be able to get rid of these things at all, just that if you want to sell them to an NPC vendor, any price over 10k is way too much. And no other player would buy strongboxes when they come so easily from missions and battle salvage. |
