Im sure if he would have used a scrambler or something his TTK would have been like 5-10 seconds, giving you plenty of time to do a 360 no scope headshot on him like you do every time the clearly OP bolt pistol isn't at play. 
Bolt pistol isnt OP, the SMG is still better than it in every way except for range. |

Bolt pistol isnt OP, the SMG is still better than it in every way except for range. Your counterpoint seems a bit irrational. In the match I played against him last night from the angle in which he engaged combat with me had he been using almost any other weapon in this game I would have been able to at least turn to face him and open fire. Instead of that happening I simply died from two shots of a bolt pistol in less than a second. I wouldn't suggest decreasing the damage the gun delivers because I wouldn't want to mess up its flavor but I do suggest increasing the charge-up time on the gun to a full second per shot.
Increasing the charge up time does decrease the damage the gun delivers unless there is an increase to per shot damage to compensate, this in turn exacerbates the exact problem you are complaining about, first shot damage being very high.
You are complaining about the only legitimately annoying thing about this gun, that it delivers a huge amount of damage on that first shot (any of its shots), and I respect this. But the gun itself is not even remotely OP. If you want to change the mechanics, thats fine, make your suggestions. Just keep in mind that its current DPS is already one of the lowest in the game, and the weapon is crap compared to the SMG except for its longer range. |

Who cares? I was doing this in the sidearm event after they buffed the bolt pistol to be useful at all. The question isnt wether or not the bolt pistol can go 20-0 in some pub, any weapon can do that. But is it actually OP? I think it isnt, usage and kill/spawn numbers support this, whats your non-anecdotal evidence to the contrary? |

CCP is basing weather or not to nerf a weapon based upon Kill Count and Usage Count. If it's too high, he nerfs it.
Yeah I did the same thing with the scrambler rifle that you are doing now with the bolt pistol. The difference is the scrambler is OP, not just annoying, and Rattati had acknowledged that it was OP from looking at the data but he wasnt going to nerf it because its usage was so low. So I used it until he decided to nerf it, then stopped again because it feels like cheating to equip the stupid thing.
Again if you can provide some data indicating it being OP, that would be something, but right now you just sound butthurt because its an annoying weapon to fight against. |
