if you die from rooftop campers, you are doing things wong;
1. Positioning. You have positioned yourself in a bad spot where the enemy can easily kill you. Always have cover within 2-5 seconds away from you.
2. Dropsuit. Why would you be using an amarr assault when you want to strafe? Why wouldn't you use a rail rifle for long-range encounters when they are rooftop camping? Bring the right fit.
3. Counter-play. Rooftop camping? Use an assault drop-ship, call in an orbital, hot-drop some sentinels on the roof, use a sniper rifle/railgun turret.
SG scouts are easy to kill, just hard to find. situational awareness is your friend! If you are a good scout you will almost never die to a shotgun/knife because you know where they are coming from.

1. It gets boring waiting for guys on roofs to jump down. It's like a bore standoff. 3. That's a lot of effort when you'll win on MCC with 75% of shield remaining even if you leave them alone.
1. Yes, that always happens and is inevitable but sometimes you can position yourself on a higher/even height spot and shoot them, removing them from the rooftop. I have only experienced it a few matches, most of the time ambush is just ground-game.

3. Would you rather wait as you stated in no.1, or call in an ADS and get them off the roof?
