I've got all vehicle upgrade skills to 5 for dropships, along with HAV Operations 1 and Large Blaster Operations 1.
How far would I need to bump these (and related proficiency) to enjoy this reputed invincibility? Does one need a prototype tank, or will a lesser tank do? Does the main gun need high skills?
Is there a less expensive "best fit" that would be good for training when I'm still likely to lose a ride due to inexperience?
I've got 10M SP to throw at the project, but I'd rather not spend all of it if I don't have to. |

You will need to soak that 10 mil in and throw another 20 on top.
Then travel back in time and learn every bad corner and ridge, bad rdv drop area.
Spend 2 months memorizing the sound of AV and the corresponding projectile.
Forget all the foot control buttons.
Kiss your wallet twice and maybe a long hug.
Develop forest chameleon style eye control.
Grow a healthy fear for the sound of an LAV.
Master some form of meditation.
Only read true adamance posts.

the PG/CPU on HAVs is so tight that a flea would have a hard time fitting his wang in the gap.
WoW has taught me that Purple means Legendary. This means Quafe suits are the optimal loadout for killing all of you.

Tested again one month ago. Non feasible for use.
Too high fitting costs to justify the use over other forms of tanking. That cost makes them being low slot irrelevant.
About battlefield efficiency, those reductive bonuses tend always to be feeble. The time difference is not that big. Furthermore, the fact that shield recharge can be so easily interrupted often negates the benefits of the module.
If shield tanker is gonna heal himself, we will have to hide. While there, it does not matter if recharge kicks in 1 or 2 seconds earlier as you gonna spend 10-30 seconds there anyways. And finally, it's better to have EHP to reach that cover, it is little use to have faster recharge there if you can't even reach it.

So seriously, what skills would I need to fit a good training tank? Something good enough to learn the trade without being the total end game?
Something that maybe used an Advanced large blaster and sacrificed one or two of the small turrets.
I'm thinking a defensive fit that sacrifices a bit in offense so I can live long enough to learn the driving skills. |

30-40mil in vehicles will help but the biggest factor is 'tarded red dots. I can solo a g.v0 witha good av suit and go 20+ for 0 with a soma. The difference is good av. |

So once again, is a GK1 a good choice and if so what's the suggested fitting for it? |

The best anti infantry tank you can make is the following (it's the cheapest)
Adv maddie Basic blaster 2 basic hardeners and heavy reps Basic scanner, basic fuel injector And lastly a heatsink, damage mod, or dispersion mod. Your choice.

Why the hell do we still have this tank issue? Been here since closed beta and have never seen an appropriate tank yet.. Without getting in depth.. Nerf speed, so they cant do 90 in reverse would be a good start..
Even CCP isn't stupid enough to leave the forever hardened thing in place.. For longer than 3 years .lol |

Being as this is a thread about vehicle use I'd like to advertise the locker room thread "Heavy Treads" which is oriented towards vehicle use, I've been trying to foster a vehicle community forum similar to that of the other threads like the barbershop etc. I'll happily edit to provide a link to it once I'm not posting from mobile.
Now on topic the current "meta" fit of vehicles is 2x hardener, plate & repper which provides incredible ehp values and really high effective reps/s

Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I was looking for and it won't cost me a ton of additional SP to be able to play with. |

You asked for the best survival (isk farming) tank, not one for infantry suppression. That maddie is going to regularly have rails, missles and orbitals sniffing around its ass. Best isk farmer is C/1 with 3 hardeners two complex extenders and militia rail. That'll hardly put a dent in your SP to boot. |

I want to learn a new role and take advantage of the vehicular SP that I've already spent.
I'm looking for a fun fit to learn the art of driving that is not too fragile for a beginner.
The first one feels like it should work. I can go killing but will also learn what hunts a tank and can learn to avoid it.

Armor
Plate Rep Hardener
Play with the extra slot till you find something you like.
For rails, heat sink and damage. For blaster, turbo and either damage or heat sink, possibly dispersion. Missiles, double damage.
Shield
Extender Hardener Regulator ( the cost is high but I swear by them)
Rails, damage damage damage. Blasters, don't. Missiles, damage and turbo.
Small blasters are a nope. Small missiles if your gunners have bad aim. Small rails if your gunners have good aim.

I'm gonna warn that without plates the tank is very vulnerable to Lai Dai grenades. If you want to / need to keep yourself safe from those, then you limit your ability to slay infantry with your blaster.

While a good idea to start cheap, these standard tanks of today are almost as cheap with lots of more potential. I suggest making the choice taking that into consideration.

For a madrugars it's : plate, rep, double hard, nitro, heat sink + whatever you can fit there It's easier to fit rail maddy than blaster. Thus opt. skill on blaster is needed.
You don't exactly need as much sp to build a good tank. But you need quite an amount to get everything out of them.
Overall, you need to practise + a keyboard to drive a madrugar. With a controller you can't manoeuvre as well.
Ps. right of now, Madrugar is the tank to pick
