Im gonna see if i can squeeze out more performance on dust by switching my PS3's operating system from my trusty SSD to the inbuild 12GB flash storage. Gonna be interesting cause maybe the 12GB inbuild flash storage will perform better with Dust then a SSD due to the rather slow connection between the SSD and the Sata interface that cannot be changed.
If you are now scratching your head and want to do this aswell you will need a super slim PS3. A Fat or old slim PS3 variant doesnt support this feature.

you are better off getting a SSHD more storage space and the same performance of a SSD

Im just gonna go ahead and do the epxeriment on performance by switching the internal storage via recovery menu. Currently redownloading Dust, then ill update and see if i have a better perfomance compared to a regular SSD.

I see the theory here but have no clue how it will work as I am not familiar with the super slim's internal setup.
I do not think it is going to make much of a difference but I am interested to see the results.

I'm interested in your findings. I thought about getting an ultra slim. Marking thread as favorite.

The inbuilt 12GB storage was tested and found to be as slow, and even slower in some cases, than the HDD included with PS3's.
SSD's are still the fastest. And no SSHD's are not "as fast".

Test result: the internal 12GB flash storage is slower then a regular SSD. Longer loading times, worse performance etc. Just dont bother with it if you allready got a SSD.

Can confirm, in my own testing, that the internal flash storage on the Super Slim had the worst overall performance.
Socket changing, engaging enemies (AKA MATH) all proved to be very slow. Better to go old. |
