We need a larger field of view, since almost everyone is playing from a widescreen TV. That added with the bunnyjumping of certain scouts, a larger field of view will help a lot of players to get a more natural feel for the game, as is now i feel a bit cramped and annoyed when playing.
tl;dr, Give higher FOV!! |

I suspect its a boring topic because perhaps so many of us agree, but the devs need to so it none the less imo! |

I agree with the suggestion, and I think it is a wonderful idea. Yet in the back of my mind I keep having the point that my head is completely encased in a helmet screaming at me the fact that a greater FOV is a little BS. Better face/head protection has historically restricted one's FOV. Whether or no this would be the case in this universe is not for me to say.

TBF, my take on the helmets is that the HUD we view is just a screen projection, with the image coming from the camera on the right of the helmet (as seen in our character images). It's not too hard to believe that this could be adjusted to change the FOV...considering our cameras now can already change their zoom levels |

Anyone read Peter Hamiltion ? In nightsdawn Ithink it was alot of mercs had eyes removed and just had sensors for 360 view. Man those were some cool books.

If a limit is put on it to prevent full 360 view etc, then it should be fine. Practically every game on the PC has either an FOV slider, or some way of adjusting the FOV, due to the fact that people have different sized monitors and sit at different distances to the screen. They usually have caps, and tend to in no way, shape or form, provide the player with an advanatge to sight, however strange that may seem (if done right anyway).
Most console games however, have it set at a fixed FOV, which is a lot closer than what a lot of PC gamers are used to. This is simply due to the fact that the average gamer sits far away from the screen, and so it is done to help them. Now, I play on 2 different TVs and positions depending on the day/situation at home. I'd like to be able to adjust the FOV to suit which TV I'm using at the time & where I'm sitting :P
*Fun fact, an incorrect FOV is one of the things, along with head bobbing and other 'tricks', that is known to cause motion sickness in some gamers, or other annoying things Making it adjustable with a cap to prevent seeing behind/to your sides just helps everyone*. |
