Despite my respect for those soldiers and my collection of first generation equipment, I don't pretend to have ever fought at Pike's Landing. But the exact origins of my original implant could be seen as suspect to say the least. At least that's what my paperwork said. In reality, Ishukone had already intervened at Pike's Landing and was on their way to beginning their own immortal soldier program. Despite Heth's wishes, the Dragonaurs weren't about to let the liberals gain a dominant position within the state by being the only ones exploring this new method of war. We'd be made immortal, and work as Templis sleeper cells within the immortal community. Only we didn't have the technology quite yet. We had to rely on Amarr scientists who had already had experience with Sleeper implants. I still remember sitting in that briefing room trying to make sense of that Khanid doctor's accent as he tried to explain all the changes I should expect after conversion. They never did explain where those implants came from. After the surgery there was an extremely long acclimation period where we had to cross train with Amarr operatives, eventually training with them in the field while we helped quell a number of slave riots. Most of our assignments where in positions nobility felt were too 'dishonorable' for Paladins to risk their souls over. They made us do things out there, thing's I'm not proud of, and the condition of my squad just seemed to degrade until we had to be pulled off the front lines. I hated the Amarr for a long time after that. But I never blamed them for my psychosis. I always thought it was just the stress, or faulty engineering... I never placed stock in the thought that a few harvested Sleeper implants may have still been floating around. I never had time to think about it, right after my training with the Amarr was Heth's Purge and the uprising. Things got better after that...
