Have any of you ever played SOCOM?
The old SOCOM games on the PS2 offered some of the most intense multiplayer action of almost any shooter I've seen.
How did it work? 8v8, one life elimination, best of 11 rounds, when you died you went to spectator mode and your mic was disabled. Dying was a big deal. Sometimes there were crazy comebacks, and last man standing situations etc.
It was the most tactical online shooter of it's time, and built a very passionate following for a reason.
Well Dust wants to be all things SOCOM was. Tactical, intense, unforgiving, competitive (just on a much grander scale).
So here's my suggestion for a SOCOM inspired game mode:
Other Contracts
8 V 8
Map limited to a single large city socket
1 Million ISK buy-in per merc.
No vehicles.
Best of 5 rounds
Could possibly be any of the game types we have now (Bush, Dom, etc.)
Winning team collects the pot (16 Million) and earns 100% salvage of losing team.
Teams could choose to raise the stakes if they wish.
Would you play this?
We already have city sockets, Other Contracts, and 8 man squads. This is do-able

Yep, that's what I want. The idea of clones is still there; it would be like EVE. When you die, you are thrown to your med clone back in your quarters instead of this magical recloning on then battlefield.
Rather than spend a lot of money on gear, reduce the gear cost and force spending isk to keep your clone updated to your skill level. Else, as with EVE you could lose skill points that you've earned (as opposed to losing skills).
For those that are too isk poor you can always play with a cheap clone with basic skills. Sort of like a militia clone. This would replace the starter fit suits. Instead of a suit, you get a non-editable basic clone to earn isk with.
If you leave battle, you are counted as cloning out. That wouldn't be a big deal isk wise, clones don't have to be uber expensive, it's just that you have to remember to buy a new one up to your skill level else you lose sp, even foing sp negative until you earn that amount to pay for the deficit.
To those non-EVE players that don't like this idea remember, "Welcome to New Eden". Let's teach these console kiddies what that really means.

EVE eliminated clone updates.
You only lose SP from dying in a T3 ship now.
WoW has taught me that Purple means Legendary. This means Quafe suits are the optimal loadout for killing all of you.

That's not at all what I'm getting at.
Moreover, that type of seemingly EVE-born arrogance needs to be stamped out of Dust. This game should be fun.
Saying "Welcome to New eden" to justify a worse product is ridiculous.
