i have noticed a peculiar thingnwith the time it takes to hack something with codebreakers. on my assault i have 5 codebreakers but it does not show much of a difference in hack time (basic level) while on my logi (minmatar) i can hack faster than my assault with only 3 on (maybe it only adds the lv 2 hack skill to logi?) so how does this work? less is more?
on to the damage mod portion. i have 2 enhanced damage mods on my proto amarr assault (lv 3 in AM assault) and i put an lp proto assault scrambler on it. i wanted to see how much damage i could do so i put the gun on my minmatar logi with 4 enhanced damage mods and surprisingly it only did half the damage of the assault. the amarr assault had no mentioned bonus in the skill tree regarding damage. is the math in the game really that funky. no equation i use ever gets my numbers to match with CCP's...

Different suits have slightly different native hacking speeds - although it's not a listed stat anywhere.
No idea whats going on with you damage mods - anything more scientific than "half the damage"? |

I believe the native hacking is heavy frames < assaults and light frames < logis

About the hack, there is a difference of native hack speed between assault and logi. The logi has nearly a free complex codebreaker when you have max skills. So it is as if your logi had 4 codebreakers with one of them not counting for the stacking penalties calculation. On the other hand, your 4th and 5th codebreakers are ineffective because of stacking penalties.
Logi : 25, 25, 21.73, 14.26 Assault : 25, 21.73, 14.26, 7.07, 2.65
As you can see your two last codebreakers give you less than the native bonus of the logi
For the damage mods I don't know, keep in mind that stacking penalties make the third damage mod quite ineffective and the 4th one basically useless |

Did you not read the post above me? The stacking is what is hurting you. There is a thing called stacking penalty, the more you stack, the less output you get. |

Look up for some old charts. Logis (all only MI) have 1.05 or 1.1 base hack speed.

Ah here is the problem with your damage evaluation. Basically what you noticed is that your Amarr assault can do more damage before overheating than your min suit with more damage mods. It doesn't mean you do more damage per shot with your Amarr, you're actually doing more with the Min suit, but the Amarr assault bonus reduces heat generation, meaning you can fire much more shots before overheating.

Scouts have 1.05 hack speed, aside from the minscout which is 1.10 Logi's have 1.15 hack speed, aside from the minlogi which is 1.20. Assaults, commandos and sentinels all have 1.00 hack speed.
Hacking skill and minscout skill are applied first and aren't affected by stacking penalty (because they're not modules)
So 1.10 * 1.25 * 1.25 = ~1.72 on a minscout, if you were to add a complex codebreaker there it would go 1.72 * 1.25 = ~2.15

All percentile modules in the game are affected by stacking penalties (the only exception is the jump speed portion of myofibrils, which is bugged).
So with your damage mods fitting five 7% ones would yield the following return: Individual bonuses: 7.00%, 6.08%, 3.99%, 1.98%, 0.74%, Total bonus: 21.27% (these are multiplicative, not additive).
And don't trust the fitting window when it comes to damage mods, it is outright incorrect and has been since day 1.
