Since this is an FPS game, I believe CCP should focus more on fixing some gunplay issues. I come from MAG, where gun game more or less determines the good players from the bad. In MAG, Zipper did a good job of making a game where there is competitive gunfighting between people. Generally, the players with the best aim and fastest reactions would be the winners. So here are my concerns with Dust:
- Lag and Framerate issues- Makes all aspects of the game frustrating but especially when trying to kill people. This is the main issue here and needs to be addressed if you want people to play the game.
- Faster control response- This might be just the way you designed the game, but control response should be quicker, almost instantaneous. For example, switching to an alternate weapon feels slow, we need it to be quick so we can save ourselves instead of waiting for the weapon to reload and getting lit up in the process. The actions that one does in the game should matter on how fast the gamer can personally make them, and not depending on the preset speed. Pistols should fire based on how fast the player can click R1.
- Hitboxes- Please improve this, there will never competitive FPS gaming if your bullets don't go where you aim.
- Headshots- I don't know if it's the combination of lag and bad hitboxes, or the small damage modifier when shooting at the head, but when I get headshots I should be rewarded with a quick kill.
- Militia Weapons- Make them more powerful, you will have many beginners quitting just because they cant kill those Heavy dropsuiters with these paint ball guns. I like the Team Fortress 2 system, where the noob guns are not necessarily bad, they just don't have as more user friendly attributes as the higher level weapons such as reload speed, decreased recoil/wander, improved sights, etc.
- Snipers- Horrible.
- Knife- Horrible, very difficult to knife someone because of the weird collision physics and if you connect it can take 6-8 shots to kill someone. Improve the physics, and make it 3 or 4 swipes minimum, for all armor types.
- Future precautions- Please don't implement random bullet spread like Zipper did, that made half the players quit. Please dont make the AUR weapons in any way more powerful, just cooler looking/more ammo, something along those lines. So overall, make gunplay mechanics more competitive and dependent on skill rather than lag or gear. Please dont go the casual gamer path either.
