How effective are assault rails on gal assaults? I see them all the time.
How good is this fit out of 10?
So exited as I'm about to skill gal assaults to 5.

I used 2 plates, a reactive and 2 reps, but prefer a higher tank (757)

Gallente Assault bonus doesn't affect the rail weapons but the Assault Rail rifle is better than the assault (plasma) rifle so you're not loosing anything there.
I'd never put a regular plate on my assault unless it was a basic plate. So id go with an enhanced kinkat over the complex plate.
Although, I see where you suit is going and its trying to be decent in speed mobility and reps.
If that is correct then Three ferroscales and 2 complex plates will work just fine if you have the SP to make the most out of speed, armor and reps.
Reactive plates are the things you go to when you don't have many low slots in most other cases, like this one reactive placed can easily be swapped with something else for better results.
I wish Reactive plates benefited Gallente more than they do now. As is, its pretty ideal for Minmatar suits.
Anywho, when you make a Gallente assault, speed and reps should be your primary concern. If you try to brick tank there's a very good chance you'll get crushed by an smart assault who can do it better than you without the effort and still be faster.
If you ever do want to go the route of brick tanking your Gallente assault (god forbid) then use a Kincat, but you're swapping a lot better of armor for par sprint speed little reps.

Needs more hp. Also drop one dmg mod because of stacking penalty.
Mabye switch out reactive for feroscale so you have more speed and hp.
Use breach instead of assault smg.
The rest of the fit is really good though.

Including stacking penalty I get around 8%
1st krin does 4
2nd does 86.9% (4x .86=3.48)
3rd does 57.1% (4x .57=2.28)
4+3.48+2.28=8.86
That's 8.86% more damage to BOTH weapons.

Sorry for the wall of Text.
Assault rails are popular on gal assaults because they have a switched efficiency (-10shields/+10armor). This means its easier to finish of people. It has a much larger optimal which means easier kills in ranged maps. Oh also higher dmg per bullet and lower fire rate means it scares people more. It has a smaller clip and a charge time. I believe it reloads slower as well. Its all around better unless you are loyal to the Gallente.
With the Kat you will have 492 armor and about 26 reps. Fast speed all around. 6 out of 10 due to squishyness
With the plate you might push around 600 armor with 26 reps. Slower all around but good general tank.7 out of 10 due to balance
My favorite fit
Highs-
Com pg upgrade
2 com dmg mods
Lows-
1 com plate
1 com reactive
1 com kin Kat
2 com armor reps
Credron active scanner ( not the flux)
Everything else is up to you

The lows bother me a bit. Try fitting 3x Complex Reactive Plates and 2x Complex Armor Repairers. With Armor maxed out you should get over 530+ armor and like 29 reps/s. I used to brick tank my assaults but you'll have a high possibility of getting insta ganked after you first engagement. As for the Ishukone ARR just keep it, though I wouldnt recommend. I try to use racial weapons with its corresponding racial suit.

I also do. And I hate caldari weapons but I have them skilled to 5 so I gotta use them at some point.

I rarely run my proto fit (more or less perpetually solo and I'm a cheap bastard) but

CPX extender
CPX ferro
CPX reactive
2x CPX reps
CPX recharge
PRO CR/BAR

I designed it around a more stand and deliver pitched battle scenario that's why I've got the recharger instead of a kincat, and the crap sidearm frees up a bunch of CPU/PG to play with.

Caldari weapons are beautiful. Especially the magsex. It looks so cool when you got an Ishukone with a Kaalakiota Magsex on a Caldari assault.

Damage mods do not add their effect, they multiply.
So [base] * 1.04 = [base2] * 1.0348 = [base3] * 1.0228 = [base4]
In truth it gets you up to about 10%, but if you wanted to go not-free the best result would be complex light, sidearm & krins... If you wanted balanced damage, or you could just crank up that primary damage.
