So lets imagine legion happens and dust moves to PC,PS4, ZX Spectrum, whatever. You log in and discover that your characters progression has been wiped and everyone has been reverted back to noob status.
The devs announce that they decided to wipe the slate clean and completely start again with the progression and the economy.
I personally wouldn't mind even though my main currently has 35 mil SP and just over 130 mil ISK.
Pros - Assuming a reboot brought an influx of new players the community wouldn't start off split between old high SP players and noobs. - The economy could be properly managed this time as everyone would start poor again as opposed to another divide of the have and the have nots. - You wouldn't be fighting the same people day in day out which would be the case if you progression moved over. Think about it, assuming CCP would be smart enough to separate noobs and vets this time, you'd just end up fighting the same small group of players you are now while all the low SP players would get that glorious new game experience of a community ranking up together. - The game would be new and fresh again. Tired of your ugly ass Minmatar prison... err I mean quarters? Nows your chance to switch race. - I cant stress this enough...the community wont be split day one between bitter vets and noobs. - Devs are free to make changes to how progression works without having to accommodate players with 100 mill SP.
Cons - Your current progression would be lost (I know people have put a lot of time and money into their character) - Devs would have to think of a way to reward vets for their loyalty to Dust without breaking game balance (Perhaps unique skins or Quarters for every 10 mil SP a dust merc has). - The knowledge that you would rage and throw a tantrum but them calm down and fall in line
How would you react? and would you still play if you had to start again? |

Obviously my post is only semi serious. I was more coming from a scenario where the game was rebranded and and large sweeping changes where made (i.e legion) instead of a simple port of what we have now.
I feel like this game is so broken and it's reputation so tarnished that a clean break and a fresh start is required. |

If they would let you keep old stats (sp) it would be very unbalanced from the start. In other words, NPE would suck as much as now.
Ps. I would be pleasant with unique tittle and a skin. I was reset enough times in closed beta..do it again and I won't come back..all that time grinding wasted, yeah that'd be cool. I guess if it were ported I might try it..but ps5 will be out next year
I totally understand why you would feel that way, but remember this would essentially be a different game. Hopefully it would feel fresh and different enough that it wouldn't be such a grind for you. |

I'm not talking about a ports of dust or dust 2.0. I'm talking about 'project legion' which will be a separate entity to dust 514. People need to remember that any real life money and time invested in Dust 514 potentially stays with Dust 514.
If CCP want to make a new different game learning from past mistakes you are not immediately entitled to have all your progression in dust transferred over.
For example what if the devs decided they wanted to completely rework how progression works. Should their hands be tied because people have invested time into their dust 514 merc and might get upset if they cant transfer their SP across? What if the devs decide that BPO's would be bad for the economy in legion and decide they wont be available in the game. Should dust vets be able to bring all their BPO's across?
Just food for thought.

Losing the isk is nothing. It's losng My SP-representative of my time and BPOs that I find unacceptable.
But it's not dust 514, legion is legion. Two separate entities.
