Is there anything specifically I should go for? Would any modern wireless work, or would I need to buy a keyboard and mouse specifically for use on the PS3? |

I'm probably not going to use it too much unless I learn to sit down while playing, or find a desk or table that reaches up to chest height. I'm one of those weird guys that stands up the whole time.
I still suck in general and don't usually squad up, so it's not like I'm going to suddenly be stomping everyone. |

Just my 2 cents on the topic I'm not bad with a controller so much as it's just really difficult to stay on target with the thumbstick. Accidentally brush tap it too far and WHOOPS, SHOOTING THE AIR, NEED TO READJUST BEF- dead. Especially against faster suits. I feel like I'd do better with the precision of a mouse, but it'd balance out because I've never been good with keyboard controls ever, and learning Dust's layout would leave me a really easy target to hit. |

they will tell you to try it, and then never mention their extra tryhard equipment.
good luck. I want to ask what an input device would be, but then I also feel like it'd come across like I'm asking because I want to use one, rather than just curious about what it is. |

good luck. This. That's the big secret behind KB/M on Dust. If you try to use the regular KB/M support that is built into Dust you will find that it is terrible. That is why you have regular KB/M users out there asking for it to be fixed while others magically have the ability to destroy everything with it. Something like this. The true try hards will even combine this with a keyboard that has custom macros to allow them to build strafe patterns that make them untouchable with a single key stroke. I think you are jumping on this band wagon a little late since this is one of the biggest factors in strafe speed getting nerfed. This is also why I try to explain to people that removing KB/M support from Dust will do absolutely nothing. Oh wow. God damn. Well alright, duly noted. I still want to give KB/M a shot, though. It's mainly the use of the mouse I'm after, though, so that I can actually stay on target more easily. Is the mouse any good at all without added support from stuff like this? |

I have a laptop that I use for surfing the internet, a phone that I use for surfing the internet when the laptop is too far away, and a game system that I shoot people on. I haven't watched any shows in years, so I barely know how to work a TV remote nowadays. That about covers it.
I can probably give this a try, though. How does a mouse work alongside a controller? Does it take away the use of the right thumbstick entirely, does it only come into play when I actually move the mouse to aim and give back right thumb control when I give it a tap, or what? |

Tried out the mouse for a bit, and I was incredibly wrong. The mouse doesn't seem to be better for aiming at all, at least not for me. Slight movements seem to cause jitter, and moving the mouse diagonally, slowly, up and to the right will, instead of smoothly going diagonally up and to the right, will cause you to go mostly diagonal, with occasional slight 'twitches' in one direction or another.
Maybe the surface I was using wasn't flat enough (that old plastic Mario Paint mousepad) or maybe the mouse I'm using isn't too great (some logitech thing that came included with a keyboard, cost maybe $40). Or maybe I'm just not used to it and need to give it another shot.
But that was not a fun experience. |
